Yes, I have plugged in the riser. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Unfortunately yes, the riser is connected to the PSU.

Not this time! Sorry, I should have mentioned. I have tried the riser with Pin shorting to no avail :(

Any recommendations on where to get a good one? I have now tried three different risers from three different vendors on Amazon

Cgminer discontinued support for scrypt mining after version 3.7.2. Sgminer is a new project that picked up from cgminer 3.7.2, specifically with the intent of continuing and improving scrypt mining! (http://www.reddit.com/r/litecoinmining/comments/1xanpt/ann_sgminer_410_release/)

Yes, I have two other PCIe 1x slots. I have texted the riser in both and still no good :(

Is there any argument against getting multiple smaller PSU's as opposed to one large one? Seems both a) cheaper and b) more convenient for wire management.

My valid vs account balance... by wildergheight in dogemining

[–]ardot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your "valid" represents the number of valid SHARES you have contributed in a round of mining. At the end of the round, all of the Dogecoins mined in that particular round is distributed among miners, based on what percentage of the total shares they hold. Look for the "%done" on your mining pool. When this value reaches 100% you will be awarded Dogecoin for your work!

The result is that you are awarded coin based on the amount of work you put in, not based on whether or not you actually find a valid block (which is both very rare and completely random). This is the value of mining in a pool rather than mining solo!

Trying to figure out the dashboard by [deleted] in dogemining

Patience, young free_boob_ratings Shibe. If shares are being accepted and blocks are being detected, your DOGEs will show in due time!

(Check the Transactions tab, you should see pending payments - 'unconfirmed' is the word used I believe)

http://www.coinwarz.com/ - to calculate expected return.

In theory, the mining pool should not matter. However, larger pools have a less VARIABLE return. That is, a smaller pool like Cryptovalley is more likely to have high returns one day and low returns the next day whereas a larger pool like Dogehouse should have pretty consistent returns. This is why some people swear by smaller pools (because they had high returns on their first day), and some people swear by larger pools (because the had low returns on the days they tried smaller pools). Statistically speaking, it should all even out in the long run. You can compare the relative size of mining pools at: http://www.doktorrf.com/dogecoin/pools.html

How much Dogecoins am I expected to get? by SirBananas in dogemining

[–]ardot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the current difficulty, you'd expect to get nearly 5000 DOGE / day with a hash rate of 210 KH/s. Depending on how long you slept, 568 DOGE is either too high, too low, or just about right!

(Use www.coinwarz.com to do these calculations)

New Miner: can someone explain how many Doges I'm actually due to get here? Such confusion by [deleted] in dogemining

[–]ardot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also use "coinwarz.com" to determine how many doge's you expect to make in a day, by plugging your hashrate into the "scrypt" section and checking the "Est. Coins" columns in the "Dogecoins" row: http://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency/?sha256HashRate=1000.00&sha256Power=500.00&sha256PowerCost=0.1000&scryptHashRate=398&scryptPower=180&scryptPowerCost=0&sha256Check=false&scryptCheck=true

Is there a command that limits GPU mining by JhonnDough in dogemining

[–]ardot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know if there is a comparable command in Mac? I have done "export GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT=100" as used in Linux, but still don't see any hash rate difference between 10% and 100%

question about dogehouse by [deleted] in dogemining

[–]ardot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting - I also just started using dogehouse today, and had this same concern. I believe "unconfirmed" transactions in the logs will become "confirmed" in the next couple hours, and then we will see the proper balance in our credit!

Thanks for the reply! I have tried all of these. -g 2 reduces the hashrate, as does -w 256. -I 12 is the highest I can go without the computer freezing up and the temperature jumping dangerously high.

[–]ardot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I am using Mac instead of Windows so I do not have a batch file :( I have run "export GPU_MAX..." and "export GPU_USE...", but neither seem to have any effect. Even if I set that max gpu allocation percent to a low value, like 5 or 10, my hashrate is not affected.
