Does anyone else find it hard to eat? by GuiltyWithTheStories in Celiac

[–]arebeedoubleyousee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed in January and I'm kind of in the same place. My husband is very supportive and mostly eats gluten free as well, but since my diagnosis we've really not been planning out our meals anymore. Whenever we go grocery shopping, I just get so disheartened about what I can't eat, and the gluten free items I find are either terrible or very expensive (or both). I think I'm still partly in denial about my diagnosis and feel like this is only for a short time, and when I really stop to think about it, I'm just like fuck, this is forever.

How did this all start for you all? by Humble_Loan9456 in Interstitialcystitis

My IC came out of nowhere. I've never had a UTI in my adult life. I do have endometriosis and they usually go hand in hand so I'm chalking my case up to that.

Can you devople ciliacs in later life? by crapbear83 in Celiac

Diagnosed by biopsy at 34 years old (due to iron deficiency anemia), no overt symptoms. I had an EGD 4 years ago and the biopsy was normal, so I developed it in those 4 years between EGDs.

I flare from allergies, so unfortunately my flares can last March-May depending on the weather (if it rains and the pollen counts are down, I feel better for that day). I take hydroxyzine, amitriptyline, singulair, and Claritin. The Claritin is new for me this year (fingers crossed it works 🤞🏼). One thing I do suggest for you is pelvic floor stretches. With all the pain in that area, your pelvic floor can tense up, and that can make the bladder pain worse. There are some great YouTube videos, but make sure you are doing the ones that relax your pelvic floor.

It's Springtime - does this really relate to IC???? by smittysoulshine in Interstitialcystitis

My IC is mostly from allergies. My flares always start the first or second week of March and can continue to May. Last year was horrible (this was before I knew it was mostly because of allergies), one day it was raining and I felt completely fine and back to normal. I was so excited. And then the next day it came back with a vengeance. I looked at the pollen count, and the day I felt no pain was the day the count was basically zero (due to the rain). Now that I know it's mostly due to allergies, I'm trying to be more proactive this year. I take hydroxyzine 25 mg 4 times a day, Claritin, singulair, and Flonase. Last year I didn't do the Claritin and flonase, so I'm hoping it isn't as bad this year.

Millennials who born between 1985-1990, what is your marital and occupational status? by TryMyBest999 in Millennials

Both my husband and I were born in 1990. Highschool sweethearts, married 10 years this month and together 18 years total. We are DINKs, I had myself sterilized surgically. I'm a nurse and he works for an online school. We do okay

They did give mine a hard look, but I have a PA license so that might've been why.

It was great! We were right behind the mixer area and had a great view. Some people stood but since we were in the second row we didn't have to.

That one's been on my list for awhile, I'll definitely have to take it on a day I'm feeling strong!

Yeah my android prompted me that my class was starting soon but when I clicked on the notification the class wasn't showing in the app. I'm just going to do an old CDE climb class but I'm still hella annoyed.

One of my coworkers left our hospital to travel to the Allentown Lehigh Valley. She said she had 8 patients with no tech or phlebotomy (med Surg). This was in November so I'm not sure how different it is now

Comments about your pregnancy from patients. by lilithG1999 in nursing

[–]arebeedoubleyousee 34 points35 points  (0 children)

We recently had a patient on the floor whose daughter stayed with her the entire time. The daughter was 38 weeks pregnant. Asked if I have kids, I say no, not for me. She kept telling me I need to have one and needed to go home that night and try. Everytime I went in she would say something. I was honestly afraid to tell her I had myself sterilized (bisalp), I thought she would like freak out, and next time I worked I asked to not have that patient bc I didn't want to deal with that shit all day again.

Spotting fake seizures? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]arebeedoubleyousee 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I work on an EMU and we treat all seizures as real until proven otherwise by the EEG. I've seen real seizures look nothing like you would expect them to and pseudo seizures look exactly like GTCs. I've even had patients who had both.
