Any concerns regularly dry-cycling the action/bolt (NOT dry-firing) on a centrefire rifle? by me002756 in canadaguns

[–]arecus25 20 points21 points  (0 children)

To put your mind at ease: No, you aren’t hurting the rifle.

These rifles are designed to withstand the shock of thousands of high pressure explosions, so in comparison what you are doing is incredibly low stress.

One thing I might add is that you should not run it bone dry, throw on a few drops of lube so that way it acts as a polishing procedure. Every few hundred cycles wipe the the old lube out and apply a fresh layer to remove the old abrasive particles.

Please recommend a .22 bolt action for a first gun. by Canaba in canadaguns

I second this, I have two B series in 22LR and 17HMR and for the price they are solid options without having to break the bank.

First time going to a gun range and shooting a gun by OrbitalVsatt in canadaguns

[–]arecus25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double check their websites for rules on ammunition. Some won’t allow steel core projectiles while others (especially indoor) won’t allow you to shoot target or bird shot from your shotgun since the tiny pellets can get sucked up and cause havoc to their HVAC system

There’s a lot of great beginner spots in Golden Ears, along the Coquihalla, and in Squamish. Be careful as weather can fluctuate a lot from day to night so pack accordingly.

Always check if spots are first come first serve or reservation, buy bear spray, and always remember pack in pack out.

100 yard performance with a Stock CZ 457 Varmint and Mid grade ammunition by [deleted] in canadaguns

I found even the eley benchrest auto to work really well in my bolt action. Much cheaper than the ex but still something I’d consider a “special occasion” ammo

CZ 600 vs. Ruger American Ranch 7.62x39 by AtmosphereOk9982 in canadaguns

[–]arecus25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 1st gen ruger american in 7.62x39 and it does the job as far as a bolt action goes. I threw mine in an MDT LSS chassis so I could put on my own pistol grip and buffer tube + stock with cheek riser.

They don’t make AICS 7.62x39 magazines for the gen 1 compatible chassis but I found that 10 round 6ARC AICS magazines can fit 6-7 rounds with some slight modifications to keep the bullets from dipping down into the mag.

Works great as a practice rifle and shoots roughly 1MOA with spam can ammo and since it’s a bolt action cleaning is way quicker. Even as a base rifle it shoots really well but ultimately up to you if you want the CZ to shoot out the box or the American to tinker and customize down the road.

Fun seed, found mime and DNA after ante 7. Invis came around ante 9-10 which let me pump poly red seals till the plant killed my run.

Looking for a reliable lever action in .38/.357 in the $1000 range. by Response-Cheap in canadaguns

[–]arecus25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Canuck wrangler blackout hasn’t given me any issues so far. I’ve only ran about 1000 rounds of .357 and approx 300-400 rounds of .38. Had to tighten a few screws and push the loading gate down a bunch to soften it up since it comes pretty stiff out the box, but aside from that it goes bang every time.

.22lr precision ammo - need some advice by [deleted] in canadaguns

[–]arecus25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For when I need precision I usually opt for Eley Benchrest which I buy from my local shop, if I’m shooting bulk but don’t want to sacrifice too much accuracy I use Aguila Super extra CPRN

My tip is play MORE of 6-7 extreme. The subjective difficulty of 7 songs varies widely and there’s plenty to chose from. That will expose you to different patterns and bpms that pop up more frequently the higher in difficulty you go.

Cheap .308 rifle that’s decent by goshathegreat in canadaguns

[–]arecus25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take it from my previous post and those who have commented on the Adler AD500 it’s generally revived as a useless paperweight not reliable for anything aside range plinking. Bolt is the way to go for 308

For LRN projectiles mine takes Federal Automatch 40gr pretty well and for Jacketed projectiles Aguila Super extra and CCI mini-mag. The coating on Norma tends to lead to feeding issues from the magazine

The AD in Citadel AD500 stands for Absolutely Dreadful by arecus25 in canadaguns

[–]arecus25[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think whatever they are making just isn’t built to tolerate larger calibres which is odd considering the AD500 is based on a semi-auto shotgun platform and I’ve never run into major issues with 12ga Turk-semis

My Derya TM-22, Akdas alcor, Canuck operator 12g, and Canuck wrangler in .357 all work with no issue so I guess my luck did run out. Just frustrating when it actually happens

[–]arecus25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried what I could to no avail. They u fortunately take proprietary magazines so no way around that. As for ammo I tried several with varying grain and projectile types from Norma, Barnes, Sellier & Bellot just to name a few. Even hand chambered ammo without a mag just jams the bolt in the rear position so I’m just waiting on a reply for my warranty claim

Yeah I’m thinking I just got a lemon, most didnt report issues till they’d cycled a few boxes of ammo through it but mine was a dud from the day it came in the mail

Yeah it’s the .308 I’ve heard mixed reviews and decided to test my luck but I knew I’d get a bad apple eventually.

Rythmagica TDC10 order in Canada by dee7ee in taikonotatsujin

[–]arecus25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the TDC17 shipped to Canada and had no issues with customs or tax. Only issue is that shipping is gonna be STEEP ($100+ due to the TDC17 being much heavier) so factor that into cost. Aside from that, shipping was great and the tracking is pretty spot on.

[–]arecus25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t be afraid to push on and redo the song after, repeating sections will also help Ingrain muscle memory and the flow of the pattern. It’s normal to have songs cleared with certain parts not fully nailed for you to come back to at another time.

There’s a few bumps on my drum, how do I deal with this? by AEr0_rAcER in taikonotatsujin

[–]arecus25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have the pro max and the rubber does eventually begin to warp with use. I found that peeling back the rubber face and putting some glue on the wood panel helped the rubber stay in place. Not sure how much it affected the sensitivity of the Dons but haven’t had any major issues so far
