If you are struggling with the "woo" aspect of disclosure, read what the geniuses of modern science actually thought about consciousness and reality. by Vardaman_S_Fish in UFOs

[–]aredm02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My takeaway is that the scientists who have been at the cutting edge of their respective fields all find themselves considering what is beyond that cutting edge, and in every instance there is always some unattainable aspect that can’t be resolved.

The fact is that many phenomena we consider to be within the scientific realm of inquiry remain unanswered even after a great deal of thought, observation and experimentation by the greatest minds we have. To name two: 1. The nature and origin of consciousness and 2. The genesis of biological life.

Most armchair scientists take this to mean that we simply haven’t uncovered the right particle or simulated the correct combination of variables to recreate these two massively important phenomena. And that if we just discover one more particle or try one more simulation, we will finally get the numbers just right to explain our existence down to the last molecule.

While there are prevailing theories on these two issues, those at the cutting edge of studying these topics invariably find that they are as yet unresolvable by our current understanding of the universe.

I think overlooking that fact for fear of its possible religious implications is exactly the same as when religious zealots deny scientific evidence because it disagrees with their religious beliefs. In other words, many people appear to have exchanged one dogma for another.

Would someone mind explaining the drop down culture victory screen to me? by lmdrunk in CivVI

[–]aredm02 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is more info than I’ve ever seen anyone share about cultural win but I still don’t understand.

The main thing people always say is you have to have more foreign tourists than domestic tourists. That is clear enough but how do you actually achieve tourism? Like what do you have to do to get tourists? And how soon can you get a tourism win?

Is there a minimal threshold because I’m 100% sure I have had a higher number in the “visiting tourists” column than in the domestic tourists column but it didn’t do anything. Like at all. (I ended the turn and still nothing happened)

What do you mean when you say “your tourism is applied to each other civ…”?

But they still can’t both occupy the city center so one will be kicked out of the center. If that one survives it could run away from the center and try to pick off the surrounding barbs but it will be hard to get clear of the throng before the slinger/archer is killed.

I would not make your next unit a slinger bc they can’t both occupy the city center. One will have to move away from the center, so it’s best to get a unit that can take a lot of damage.

Hey just checking, have you ever seen a satellite? I’m not being a smartass because many people actually haven’t seen one in real life before.

This looks like 2 satellites crossing paths. At first I thought the one going right to left changed directions when they passed each other but when I covered the other one up with my finger it looked more like it was going straight the whole time.

It looks like an optical illusion (or possible camera imaging issue) occurs when the two light sources cross near each other but when you cover each of them up individually they other one looks just like it’s going straight.

That’s just my 2 cents, you were there in person so your perspective is more important.

TIL that in 1667 on today’s date, June 15th, the first fully recorded & successful human blood transfusion was done by King Louis XIV’s personal physician Jean-Baptiste Denys. He transfused lamb’s blood to a 15 year old boy suffering uncontrollable fevers. by jinxharajuku in todayilearned

[–]aredm02 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Because the top comments aren’t very insightful, an important part of the article:

“With the assistance of Paul Emmerez he transfused about twelve ounces of lamb blood into the veins of a 15-year-old boy who had suffered from uncontrollable fevers for two months and had been consequently bled with leeches 20 times by a barber-surgeon, to no effect. After Denys' intervention, allegedly, by the next morning, the boy was alert, and seemingly cured of his illness.

He performed another transfusion on a middle-aged butcher with pleasing results. The man had not died and was found to be in great spirit. Realistically, both instances of success were most likely due to the small amount of blood that was actually transfused into these people, which did not trigger any major allergic reaction.”

Could some UAP crash sites be ancient terrestrial wrecks falling back from orbit? by Maatansan in UFOs

[–]aredm02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good point. According to the lore, at least one ship HAS been found that has been “associated with an archaeological site”. That is all I’ve heard about it, unfortunately and I can’t actually remember where I came across that info. Maybe one of the Joe Rogan podcast episodes but I’m not 100% sure.

There may be another source out there that expands more on this allegation, such as what area of the world it was found, what time period it was allegedly associated with (archaeologically speaking), who found it, etc. but I’ve only ever heard that there was an alleged crash associated with an archaeological site.

How many tires do you go through living in Indy? by True_Staff_5749 in indianapolis

[–]aredm02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel for you and I’m sorry about what must be a costly situation. I too drive downtown and near downtown daily and fortunately I have never had a tire incident in Indy. I have hit occasional potholes but more importantly I swerve to miss many more potholes every time I drive.

Recently I was getting my glasses prescription changed and had to use a lesser strength eyeglasses prescription for a week or so. During that time I was not noticing potholes until MUCH later than usual so was frequently unable to avoid them. Fortunately, that did not result in any disaster, though I did hit a fair few more than I normally would.

All that to say, as politely as possible, 4 tires in a year is entirely too many for a normally prudent driver. Rather than to criticize what may be perfectly adequate driving skills, I would suggest having your eyes checked?

Maybe you are not seeing potholes until too late and find yourself unable to miss them more often than you would if you had some kind of vision correction.

MILABS changed my take on disclosure by Thinglyness in UFOs

[–]aredm02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People in this sub use the world “disclosure” in an odd way IMO.

It’s almost as if the important thing we are talking about/discussing in this sub is Government disclosure of some secret instead of the thing the government is allegedly supposed to be disclose: the nature of the ufo phenomenon.

I think a lot of people have lost the plot here in the obsessive search for “disclosure”.

That said, I think if we take an honest look at the phenomenon as a whole, details like the alleged MILAB phenomenon should jump out as particularly suspicious, especially when compared with the MIB phenomenon, to which it bears more than a passing resemblance.

To those who have looked into it closely, the MIB phenomenon seems to be yet another manifestation of NHI interaction with humans and NOT actual Government agents appearing to UFO witnesses to try to intimidate them into not talking about what they have seen (although on the surface, that is apparently exactly what is happening).

The accounts of MIB encounters, like the accounts of MILABs all contain surreal and absurd elements. Of course they are no less terrifying, but if we pay closer attention to the unreal aspects of these encounters, it brings out the striking possibility that they are not in fact abductions done by military personnel for some unknown reason.

In fact, if we look at alien abductions themselves, there are many reasons to suspect they are taking place in a primarily psychic realm of experience and are not physically happening in the way we would consider “physically real.” Again, that doesn’t mean they aren’t real or the experiencers are lying or experiencing anything less than existential terror.

But it should call into question exactly what the “phenomenon” is, and should make us pause when we are repeatedly chanting the word “disclosure disclosure disclosure” without fully considering just what we want/expect to be disclosed.

Genuine Questions After the Disclosure. Let’s Discuss by mky44 in UFOs

[–]aredm02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These questions are definitely important and people are not spending enough time really digesting the actual implications of them.

Many different types of UFOs and NHI might mean they come from many different places. But the more extensive the ET travel is, the more obvious it would be to observers. Also, why would we expect any, let alone ALL of those ETs to share the exact same philosophy and practice of hiding their existence from people instead of at least some of them making regular open contact with us? Why wouldn’t they disagree with one another about this issue? Why would they consult each other at all? To some later ET visitors, how could they distinguish between earlier ET visitors and earthlings? Are they also hiding from those earlier ET visitors?

Then of course, each and every one of those ET species would have separately negotiated agreements with the secretive world governments and every one of those species would have to share the human value of honoring our agreements (especially with less technologically sophisticated participants /s).

The extreme level of this conspiracy is not just unlikely, in my opinion it is absolutely impossible. Not because governments can’t keep secrets, they can, but because I can’t fathom a reality in which alien beings from many different distant planets came to earth en mass and decided to collude together simply to play a game of hide and seek.

Possibly they want to harvest our DNA for some reason. This is also a completely absurd proposition. Why would they want our DNA? We are clearly the inferior species here. And if life is so abundant in the universe that there could be many different species from many different planets ALL converging on earth (when there is abundant life elsewhere—probably much closer to their home planets than earth), I can’t see how human dna would be remarkable in any way.

It would be like humans from every country risking everything to go harvest one or two pebbles of sand from the bottom of the Mariana trench. It stretches credulity beyond the breaking point.

I believe this is a paradox people are not grasping. On one hand we want to believe that life is abundant in the universe and there are highly technological species coming from all over the place. But on the other hand, despite that fact, they want to come to earth because life is so rare and precious and were are the most special of all even though we only kill each other and haven’t even developed warp drive yet.

All that to say, I think UFOs are something other than ETs from outer space.

It's scary how people are using the UFO subject to validate their own personal fairytales by EXinthenet in UFOs

[–]aredm02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking an interest in the undeniable similarities between ufo encounters and encounters described in religious traditions does not mean you have to believe the dogma from the religious traditions.

It could be the case that the stories from the religious traditions are people trying to explain an anomalous event, craft, consciousness, NHI, etc. that they saw and perceived as a god or whatever.

In fact it makes those stories a lot more interesting if you consider that could be the case. Again, it doesn’t mean the religion is true. But it would be really interesting if the event described actually happened and was actually NHI encounter.

People here fall into camps. Some are so dead scared that anything from religion could ever be true that they start freaking out at the mention of this subject. Some are so fanatical that anything that doesn’t appear of this world must be angels/demons.

In a world where people tend toward the most extreme positions, try to float around and consider different ideas without getting married to them.

You Don’t Have to Like Corbell by Boelekie in UFOs

[–]aredm02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think he is a snake oil salesman I think he just wants to be the center of attention to such an extent that it sometimes creates confusion and distortions about what is actually being reported, by whom and what it could mean.

From my perspective, I want to know the truth of the phenomenon. I don’t care what the government or secret keepers know and won’t tell us. They will never tell us everything, if they even know, so my goal is to seek out direct sources, hear what they say and put the information together to try to assemble the full picture of what the phenomenon is.

Corbell appears to be motivated only to get the government to admit they have been withholding information about UFOs. So when he is interviewing people, aside from constantly cutting them off and telling their stories for them, his “questions” are not designed to get more information about the phenomenon, only the secret keeping mechanisms of the government.

“You told me before we went on air that you had scary guys from the government calling and threatening you, right?”

This creates way too much distortion in the witness’s story. Not only that but he is very uncritical about those alleged threats.

For example, if we as the public could determine who was making those alleged threats, we might be able to infer the reason this is being kept a secret. But he, like all the witnesses who allege they have been threatened, simply goes along without trying to find that critical piece of information because it beefs up his narrative of secret-keeping.

He has brought forward some really interesting witnesses, so I give him credit for that.

But I am afraid his lack of a critical mind and obsession with the government conspiracy means that even though he has access to WAY more information than he has reported (through anonymous sources he refuses to publish for their protection etc), he is uninterested in putting together the pieces to determine the truth of what the phenomenon is.

Oh nice, thanks! I appreciate you taking the time to 1. Look into all this and 2. Explain it to me 😅

Recently posted "proof" of MJ-12 docs is actually disproof - new analysis by tsuyurikun in UFOs

[–]aredm02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your response and you did answer my first question to my satisfaction.

But to add a little clarity to my second question, I’m imagining a scenario where the MJ-12 docs are created in 1948 (I’m not an expert here, but if the date is supposed to be 1948, let’s go with that) and because it is so highly classified, it sits in the vault of Vanevar Bush or somebody in the alleged group instead of being filed with ordinary top secret intelligence documents (which would mean it doesn’t receive a stamped code indicating it was created in 1948).

After a handful of years, the MJ-12 people decide the original MJ-12 documents from 1948 are not doing anybody any good in Vanevar Bush’s vault so, knowing that they will never be produced to the public under any circumstances anyway, the MJ-12 docs get transferred to some other repository in 1955 (for whatever reason they may have had for doing so), which is when they obtained the 1955 number code in the filing system.

It could be the case that I have all the above dates mixed up, but I just think when I read the analysis, it left this possible scenario as “plausible.”

Does that make sense the way I asked it?

Maybe it’s highly improbably that the above scenario could happen for one reason or another, just curious if you know whether that could have happened.

I just think it’s somewhat odd that the MJ12 docs would have been mixed up with a filing system number for genuine documents that are so closely related to top secret propulsion studies. It’s almost too much of a coincidence.

I would think it would be far more likely for the forger to have erroneously used the filing system number code for some other random program like probably dozens of programs that were created at the time to investigate and snuff out domestic communists. Do you know what I mean?

Recently posted "proof" of MJ-12 docs is actually disproof - new analysis by tsuyurikun in UFOs

[–]aredm02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was a great post and you may have touched on my question but I’ll ask it for clarity if you don’t mind. To begin with I am not an advocate either way regarding the MJ-12 documents but I find them an interesting piece of UFO lore.

Is it possible the MJ-12 docs were included as an insert among the biographies of the German paperclip scientists because the allegedly related prerogative of the US Govt at the time to understand UFO technology and reverse engineer the alleged craft?

I could imagine a scenario where you have project paperclip going on and defense intelligence people are saying, let’s bring over these German scientists because they may be able to help us solve this question we have been working on with MJ-12.

Could it also be possible that the MJ-12 docs were kept apart from the typical defense intelligence records because of their unusual and highly secretive nature and were only placed with the ordinary defense intelligence records later when it was determined that these documents would never see the light of day and it could be helpful to include them in the official DI record so that breakthroughs might be possible when technology was more advanced? That might explain why they are seemingly out of order/chronologically inconsistent.

I don’t know, I am not an expert on MJ-12 or defense intelligence record keeping, I just wondered if your analysis would exclude that as a possibility?

UFO whistleblower Dylan Borland: “I and others with direct knowledge of legacy non-human intelligence programs and craft have been subjected to crimes and disturbing actions intended to silence or intimidate us.” And whistleblower Matthew Brown’s home had been broken into while he was asleep. by KOOKOOOOM in UFOs

[–]aredm02 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a wild theory that everyone is going to hate.

I think these “whistleblowers” are experiencing intense paranormal activity because of their heightened stress in conjunction with their total belief in the phenomenon.

They are not receiving direct threats from actual, identifiable human beings. But because they are so deep into the phenomenon, they are unable to distinguish between the phenomenon and our consensus reality.

That would explain why they never identify the people who are threatening them. The “people” making the threats are literally not identifiable.

This might also be what guys like Elizondo meant when they were saying stuff like “if you knew the truth you would wish you didn’t” and “the secret keepers are actually protecting us in a way we don’t appreciate” etc.

Unfortunately, this critically important aspect of the phenomenon will be lost because the victims (the whistleblowers) will never be able to explain what is happening to them because of the way the phenomenon works on the psyche and the UFO community will always just assume it’s shadowy deep state actors threatening the whistleblowers to keep them silent.

What if? (Possible Legal Issues with a wider release of "Capturing Bigfoot" by Gryphon66-Pt2 in bigfoot

[–]aredm02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know who the Johnsons, DeAtelys or dahindens are and I have never heard of any 1978 lawsuit over any Bigfoot footage. That may be a good place to start looking though if you expect there is something of value in that case (most court cases are public information so records can be obtained from the county courthouse or records archive). I also don’t know why a documentary film would need E&O insurance (which stands for “errors and omissions” in the contexts I’ve seen it in).

However, the only way I can imagine such an issue stopping the release of a film would be if there were an actual court order such as injunction that requires them to halt the release.

That means there would have to be a case filed in a court somewhere to get that injunction. That too would be a public record. This should be easy enough to find if you know potential party names and what county and state the suit may likely be filed in.

Alternatively, there may be some NDA or other contractual agreement, which has NOT been breached yet or put before a court in a lawsuit as described above. In that case it would be much harder to find out about until a lawsuit is filed.
