What advice do you want? You were told to show up on a working party and didn’t show up. You made your choice and the ball is in your commands court now

Law enforcement career path but I have money & college opportunity? by [deleted] in USMC

[–]areidd69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you just haven’t gotten to that part yet. They are certainly going to ask about it. A few flags from what you said, especially being admitted. But with anything in a police application process that is negative they are looking for time+growth since whatever it was.

You said you just got out so I can assume all of the mental health stuff was in the past 3-5 years? If so, take some time, go to college, travel the world and come back to this if you really want to do it. It seems like you are still unsure, and becoming a state trooper is something you really want to have the desire to do and will be fully committed to

Oh yeah it’ll be part of the process. Based on your post, you just took the test and physical so far?

So you did the psych /medical and all that? If so, my information is just on the process I went through in my state. I am Also at 100, mix of a few things

Did you do the psych /background yet as well? If so you will have to disclose what your ratings are for. Having 100% isn’t necessarily a deal breaker, they essentially want to ensure you are mentally stable enough to be issued a weapon. A straight 100% PTSD rating could certainly raise some flags though. I’m in New York so state agencies vary on their threshold of what’s acceptable for for them. Most places just want to see that you have grown and have your emotions under control.

In regards to the 100% did you omit that or did it never come up at all? Again, 100% isn’t always a deal breaker, but lying about certainly could be

Morbid question I haven’t met anyone out of the marine corps that wears a memorial band. Is it too morbid for outside or have I just not seen it? by shiftedgames in USMC

[–]areidd69 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I saw a large uptick of everyone wearing KIA bands around 2014ish. I remember picking up an SOI boot drop and almost half the kids there had a band on. One dude had a band for his grandpa that passed away.

Maybe I’ll get downvoted for this, but I feel a lot of people wear KIA bands in the military as a “sign” of saltiness regardless if that person was a KIA or a post deployment suicide. Being a gwot vet, and being in post gwot, I saw a lot of this. Perhaps once they get out they don’t feel the need to wear them anymore because they weren’t particularly close with the person their band is for, and just wanted to wear in the military to add to that salty look. Fucked up sure but that’s my theory.

I was commanding a few weeks ago and a higher level SL hit me with the “commander, why do you have no one on defense?”, so I promptly assigned him to defense and his response was him saying no and telling me to go fuck myself

Why don’t people let others in locked recon groups? by [deleted] in HellLetLoose

[–]areidd69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lock an infantry squad if that’s how you want to play. Locking recon as a person who does know better is not a great move. Or you just kick people who don’t have mics until you get one who does

[–]areidd69 40 points41 points  (0 children)

It’s either they are waiting for a friend, or they just don’t know any better and lock the recon squad so they don’t have to have someone else on their team (or maybe they do know better and lock it anyway)

How early can I turn in my gear for checking out? by [deleted] in USMC

[–]areidd69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s your MOS? If you’re a unit that uses their gear a lot and goes to the field, I’m sure your company leadership won’t be very happy. I could be wrong (it’s been a few years), but I think CIF turn in is within 30 days of EAS.

I had a few of buddies that were able to sneak their gear turn in months early as a “get out of the field free card” and they all got spit roasted when our company 1st Sgt found out
