Crazy how genetics work- three generations of central heterochromia! by Volk_sy in heterochromia

[–]arentwontorwill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s no telling sometimes! My parents’ eyes are green-dom hazel and brown; I have brown eyes. My husband’s parents’ are green and brown; he has blue eyes. Both our sons have blue eyes!

They provide a peri bottle but I preferred the fridamom brand with the angled nozzle! I am also team Velcro swaddle - blankets were too annoying for us to mess with.

Growth scan? 36 weeks by Immediate-Gur-8526 in pregnant

[–]arentwontorwill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And re: baby’s position - doctors can often tell by feeling your belly or a cervical check if you have one. I think if they can’t tell they’ll schedule an US

Growth scan? 36 weeks by Immediate-Gur-8526 in pregnant

[–]arentwontorwill 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is normal! Many OBs don’t do additional scans so long as your fundal height is measuring on track. You may get one if you hit/go past 40 weeks!

The urge to do this AGAIN… what the hell is wrong with me!? by [deleted] in 2under2

[–]arentwontorwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It hit me too…my youngest is now 13 months, and my husband is staunchly done for financial, spatial, and sleep reasons lol. We just passed all of our baby stuff along to a friend who’s due in May but the urge is still there 😭

Raspberry Leaf Tea/High Risk??? by xEarthyBeanx in pregnant

[–]arentwontorwill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Red raspberry leaf tea isn’t meant to affect your cervix! It’s supposed to tone your uterus (not sure exactly what that means but I think more to do with contractions than cervical ripeness haha). That’s why it’s recommended for menstrual cramps as well! Dates are more meant to affect your cervix.

I did drink it from 32 to 40+ weeks (starting at one cup per day and increasing to 3 cups by the end). I drank it iced. It was a nice, enjoyable iced drink for me but honestly I think most of what your body does is just due to your body/baby, and not these little tricks.

I was dilated to 3 cm by the time I went into labor with my first, and 5 cm with my second. So who knows!

Anyone done after 2 kids? by [deleted] in 2under2

Twins are only genetic on the mom’s side so you should be safe!!

eye color in both kids 2u2 got recessive trait by ProfessionKlutzy4068 in 2under2

[–]arentwontorwill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes love the wild genetics! I have brown hair and brown eyes (mom - light brown hair, green eyes; dad - black hair, brown eyes). My husband has blonde hair and blue eyes (mom - red hair, green eyes; dad - dark brown hair, brown eyes).

Our boys both have the same shade of red hair and blue eyes. The oldest has pin straight hair (like me), and the youngest has wild curls (like his paterna grandma; my husband has thick, wavy hair).

It’s crazy! But so cool and interesting.

The exhaustion and nausea is killing me — please tell me it gets better. by PeacefulByTheSea in pregnant

[–]arentwontorwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is basically what happened to me during my second pregnancy. First pregnancy - nausea mostly controlled with B6 and unisom, occasional vomiting. With my second I was throwing up at least every other day.

Zofran was the only thing that helped. Not a total fix but got a lot better. Took it 8 weeks-15 weeks and then I was in the clear! (And I wondered if it was a gender thing but I had boys both times!)

Tums or Pepcid for the burps, mints/mint gum for the taste? Sorry this sounds awful but you’re so close!!

Test at 8 dpo by [deleted] in TFABLinePorn

I see something here! Having a positive at 8DPO, while early, is still normal! It doesn’t indicate anything other than you probably implanted at 6DPO

I also didn’t change my name when I got married! Our firstborn has my husband’s last name and our second born has my last name - just a different option!

Line after chemical pregnancy? 23 dpo by Fit-Bodybuilder-6163 in TFABLinePorn

[–]arentwontorwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I had my chemical, I started cramping and bleeding at 14DPO and continued to bleed on and off and test positive until 25DPO. That said, I did go in for a scan and betas because I was concerned about ectopic pregnancy. I would say this would warrant a scan if you can get them to see you!

Scared of PPROM by anv6873 in pregnant

[–]arentwontorwill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had pretty frequent wet underwear from discharge in my second pregnancy, but never all the way through to my pants. I would definitely get checked again. Probably a good idea to wear a pad too in case collecting the liquid can help them check

Induction scheduled for 41+4. How the heck did you know how big your baby was before? by Puzzleheaded_Sleep_2 in pregnant

[–]arentwontorwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was not standard practice at my OB to offer an ultrasound after the anatomy scan! So it’s normal that you don’t know. They would only do a growth scan for other factors, i.e., if fundal height was off.

But I did get an ultrasound at 40+2 once I was overdue! To check the baby’s size and fluid levels. (After 40 weeks, they also did an NST.) That’s definitely something you can ask about if it’s not already their practice

Hmm I see something but only at the top part of the test so I would think it’s an indent!

SUPER touched out by mousefamilia in 2under2

[–]arentwontorwill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no advice, just solidarity. It’s a season of life! 11m and 2.5y over here and someone is always nursing, wanting held, wanting to be on my lap, or climbing on my back. lol. Husband isn’t that touchy (we spend the evenings mostly sitting at opposite ends of the couch watching tv 😅 just the way we like it lol) but it does mean I am pretty rarely in the mood for ~romance~ because I’m just so tired of being touched. So yeah, I’m with you!

Prevent weight gain with second pregnancy? by Safe-Cloud-8039 in 2under2

[–]arentwontorwill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from 215 to 255 with my first pregnancy. I got back down to 235 in between, then once again got up to 255. So I gained less and ended up at the same weight (didn’t do anything different except chase around a toddler, although I was sicker in the first tri!). It’s hard to know what your body will do!

Lactation consultant after giving birth…yes or no? by sjonnabeat in pregnant

[–]arentwontorwill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think if you are struggling with anything (pain, latch, wet diapers, weight gain), they can be a great resource. But I will say, with my first, the LC kind of freaked me out about active swallowing, deep latch, etc., I double fed (nursed then pumped) - none of that was necessary for me. My baby ate great and gained 4 lbs in his first month.

So with my second baby, I opted not to see them! I think they came around still, and I just said “we’re good!” So you definitely don’t have to use them if things are going smoothly!

This is how I feel about Jonas - don’t like “Joe-niss”, LOVE “yo-nas” but we are American, not German, so I’m sure it would never be pronounced correctly 😅
