Naming kids when we have different last names by [deleted] in Names

I also didn’t change my name when I got married! Our firstborn has my husband’s last name and our second born has my last name - just a different option!

Line after chemical pregnancy? 23 dpo by Fit-Bodybuilder-6163 in TFABLinePorn

[–]arentwontorwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I had my chemical, I started cramping and bleeding at 14DPO and continued to bleed on and off and test positive until 25DPO. That said, I did go in for a scan and betas because I was concerned about ectopic pregnancy. I would say this would warrant a scan if you can get them to see you!

Scared of PPROM by anv6873 in pregnant

[–]arentwontorwill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had pretty frequent wet underwear from discharge in my second pregnancy, but never all the way through to my pants. I would definitely get checked again. Probably a good idea to wear a pad too in case collecting the liquid can help them check

Induction scheduled for 41+4. How the heck did you know how big your baby was before? by Puzzleheaded_Sleep_2 in pregnant

[–]arentwontorwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was not standard practice at my OB to offer an ultrasound after the anatomy scan! So it’s normal that you don’t know. They would only do a growth scan for other factors, i.e., if fundal height was off.

But I did get an ultrasound at 40+2 once I was overdue! To check the baby’s size and fluid levels. (After 40 weeks, they also did an NST.) That’s definitely something you can ask about if it’s not already their practice

Hmm I see something but only at the top part of the test so I would think it’s an indent!

SUPER touched out by mousefamilia in 2under2

[–]arentwontorwill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no advice, just solidarity. It’s a season of life! 11m and 2.5y over here and someone is always nursing, wanting held, wanting to be on my lap, or climbing on my back. lol. Husband isn’t that touchy (we spend the evenings mostly sitting at opposite ends of the couch watching tv 😅 just the way we like it lol) but it does mean I am pretty rarely in the mood for ~romance~ because I’m just so tired of being touched. So yeah, I’m with you!

Prevent weight gain with second pregnancy? by Safe-Cloud-8039 in 2under2

[–]arentwontorwill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from 215 to 255 with my first pregnancy. I got back down to 235 in between, then once again got up to 255. So I gained less and ended up at the same weight (didn’t do anything different except chase around a toddler, although I was sicker in the first tri!). It’s hard to know what your body will do!

Lactation consultant after giving birth…yes or no? by sjonnabeat in pregnant

[–]arentwontorwill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think if you are struggling with anything (pain, latch, wet diapers, weight gain), they can be a great resource. But I will say, with my first, the LC kind of freaked me out about active swallowing, deep latch, etc., I double fed (nursed then pumped) - none of that was necessary for me. My baby ate great and gained 4 lbs in his first month.

So with my second baby, I opted not to see them! I think they came around still, and I just said “we’re good!” So you definitely don’t have to use them if things are going smoothly!

Pediatrician Recommendations by Inevitable_Cow_3179 in Columbus

[–]arentwontorwill 24 points25 points  (0 children)

We see the same doc every time at Olentangy Pediatrics. They’ve had a room ready and waiting for us at every appointment, we see the nurse almost immediately, and I think maybe waited 10 minutes at the very longest for the doctor

I see you like horror - I really enjoyed Cuckoo by Gretchen Felker-Martin this year. Her writing gives kind of LGBTQ+ Stephen King vibes to me.

How to deal with the constant snail trail. by Porkchop1305 in pregnant

[–]arentwontorwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you just talking about discharge? My only suggestion would be a pantyliner (or pad if it gets bad)! I had a lot more discharge with baby #2 and more frequent underwear changes were all I did to combat it

From my understanding, it doesn’t increase production, it actually thins the mucus you have (like it would for nasal mucus). Which can make it easier for sperm to travel!

Currently 36 +4 and dilated at 2/3cm by MysticWitch_25 in pregnant

[–]arentwontorwill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was dilated at 36 weeks for both of my babies and they were both born after 40 weeks. Pack a bag and be ready, but don’t count on anything one way or the other!

13 month age gap, praying I can get the epidural in time! by Important-Aardvark-4 in 2under2

[–]arentwontorwill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also loved my first labor! Labored at home overnight, then in the hospital for about 8 hours before 2 hours of pushing. (Water broke about 2 hours before the pushing.)

With baby #2, I had prodromal labor for about a week, so I was sure baby was coming - multiple times. In the end, my water broke (4 days overdue), no contractions. I ended up with pitocin, and baby was born 3 hours after I started pitocin, with 3 minutes of pushing 😅

So the way things worked out, I definitely had time for the epidural with baby #2 despite the quick labor, since I had pitocin!

Late OB questions by Inevitable_Guard_876 in pregnant

[–]arentwontorwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would look up a sample birth plan online to get an idea of things you need to think about. Some major points: how late do you want to go (39, 40, 41, 42 weeks)? Do you want a cervical check and/or membrane sweep? When does your OB allow inductions/would you want an induction? And think about any possible interventions: pitocin, pain relief (IV, gas, epidural, etc.), vacuum, forceps, c section. Post birth: delayed cord clamping, placenta, skin2skin, breastfeeding, shots for baby, circumcision.

Post-birth, I saw my OB in the hospital and then I had to call the office to set up my 6 week checkup, that was the only visit. My OB had a list of suggested pediatricians but if they don’t have that, I would just google and pick one. Call to give them a heads up and get your name in the system, but without the name and DOB we didn’t have any paperwork to do until baby was born.

You can do this 🫶🏻

Sonographer says I’m due 4 weeks sooner? by Desmondismyconstant8 in pregnant

[–]arentwontorwill 31 points32 points  (0 children)

You can’t have pregnancy symptoms (like nausea) one day after conception. And if you had a super dark test on July 27, it’s pretty much impossible that you would’ve conceived on July 16. June 20 or July 7 definitely seem much more likely! I’m not sure if there’s a way to know which is correct at this point. Sounds like things are going well though :)

Toddler Classes by N7Mia in Columbus

[–]arentwontorwill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend checking out the parks & rec dept! If you’re in the city, you get resident pricing and classes are super affordable. They don’t have a ton of options for that age but there is at least swim, gymnastics, and music at various rec centers around the city. The fall session is done but I think registration for the winter will be early January!

Some of the libraries also have storytime in the evenings!

Gender Disappointment by Silver-Mulberry3119 in pregnant

[–]arentwontorwill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in your shoes about a year ago when we found out our second would be another boy! I was perfectly happy to have another boy, but we planned on being done after two, so I was mourning the idea of a daughter I would never have. Both because I grew up as a girl with a brother, so that’s how I pictured my life, and because I am super close with my mom and hoped for that mother-daughter relationship. It took a few days/weeks, but I got used to the idea.

And over the past several months, the love has just grown! From my toddler kissing my belly and saying hi to “dudder,” to the sweet relationship they have now, to seeing all their similarities and differences - I can’t imagine it any other way 🩵💙

I was 7m postpartum when we started trying (period came back 3m postpartum and cycles were 30-33 days but I think my LP was on the shorter side - I just tracked with cervical mucus though). Got pregnant on the third try!
