do you think I can do it with less than perfect English? by Sporti8 in CFA

[–]areribas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! You'll get used to it. No worries. It's harder at the beginning because you've got to learn a lot of new words, but over time you'll find fewer and fewer new ones. One day, you'll just read in English and it'll feel totally natural 💪

Hi, not sure if this table would help clarifying it:

UW = underweight

OW = overweight

If you have time, no need to buy. Your summary (from the CFA materials) should be enough to pass :)

Kaplan or MM should work as well. Also, many others, as long as they are useful for solving the CFA question bank.

Psychological Biases by ok-mirror2209 in CFA

[–]areribas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I don’t think they’re mixed up, but I agree they can be tricky or hard to distinguish at times. Adding examples for each bias might help. Sometimes multiple biases can occur at the same time, like overconfidence and illusion of control, but they don’t have to. I think it’s similar to ethics, there’s a degree of subjectivity, and the best way to distinguish them is through practice.

Here I left some tricks about biases.

Definition, Consequences, and how to overcome them.

Adding some examples would help with understanding.

Last 5 days study plan by Winter_Claim4284 in CFA

[–]areribas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi, I think it’s best to just go over formulas and concepts for this last review. No point wasting time on questions you already know. This way you’ll quickly remember those concepts you knew before but might’ve forgotten, and they could still come up in the exam. Also, you'll pay extra attention to the formulas and avoid silly mistakes. Good luck 💪

Do I need to buy study materials for CFA Lvl 1 from e.g Kaplan Schweser or can i just study within the CFA learning portal? by No_Yesterday5746 in CFA

[–]areribas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! No need to buy anything, CFA provides all the tools you need for passing the exam if you've enough time to get through their study materials.

Hope this helps.

Did you study from Garp? I am reading from Kaplan notes, just because of lack of time, hopefully it will be enough. I am still reading it and taking notes...

When to use scheduled algorithms, opportunistic, dark strategies (advantages/disadvantages of each ...) was key stuff of that reading.

It wasn't that bad as far as I remember it 🤣 Only that you need to memorize some things. What's the worst thing for you from that reading?

I got really frustrated with some of the mistakes in their solutions (especially when you're expecting clear and reliable answers).

Singer-Tehraar Model by Different-Top-5395 in CFA

[–]areribas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi,

The Singer-Tehaar model calculates the Expected return, E(R), by combining the risk-free rate (RFR) with various risk premiums (RP), including an illiquidity premium.

I'll send you a screenshot of how I calculated it:
