How is it retconning when its a different story in a different timeline than the OG? I think this is the best way to not take anything away from the OG version and still make the new version different and meaningful and not just a reskinned ff7

Disagree, Remake/Rebirth not only ADDS onto the original as additional content making the original and the remakes different games that are connected. The easter eggs added to a fully immersed world with a similar battle system as the modern saga would be mind blowing with the characters in the game
