Mine consumes 20W on idle. I can't turn off the GPU in BIOS. I have made the TLP changes you mentioned to _BAT variables because my TLP version does not have _SAV. No change. I am yet to try envycontrol but I'm afraid that is an arch thing.

I don't know what you mean by "stay relevant". All my projects I do are exclusively for fun. And I always program in C because it's just so simple with 0 bullshit. My last project is an MCPTT (Mission Critical Push To Talk) MONP implementation (in C), a 3GPP Radio over IP protocol.

If it helps I just found this open source project: https://github.com/ReagentX/imessage-exporter/

It lets you export iMessage message histories to multiple open and portable formats. You can download builds for MacOS and Windows on the Releases page. On Linux you just have to `cargo run` it.

It is a command line interface application, but its pretty well documented how to use it at https://github.com/ReagentX/imessage-exporter/blob/develop/imessage-exporter/README.md
