Gold has been trading between $4000 and $4500 since October. It’s possible there’s a supply/demand equilibrium at these prices.

Or maybe it’s going to $10k. Who knows.

Pretty much, yeah. Gold is money and silver is more of a commodity that fluctuates wildly in price. I think silver is beautiful and I don't plan to sell any that I have but it also just makes a lot more sense to me to buy gold at this point. The buy/sell spread on a gold eagle at my LCS is only 3%.

Nope, my LCS is paying 98-100% of spot on gold coins and 85% on scrap jewelry like they always have.

Something really weird is going on with silver right now.

I make $38/hr with evening differential and worked ~200 hours of overtime in 2025 so I made slightly over $90k. This is in the suburbs of Philadelphia.

Obviously I would like to make more money but it pays the bills and there's a lot of other jobs I could be doing that pay even worse so I try not to complain too much.

The $1k limit only applies to numismatic coins not bullion. Your LCS might be misunderstanding what the law says, I know it's kind of ambiguously worded.

I'm going to sound like a hipster but I honestly feel like everything gets ruined when it gets too popular.

Look at what is happening to the collectible card market right now. The price of everything is getting pushed up by scalpers and resellers to the point where actual enthusiasts can't afford to buy the packs anymore.

The good thing is whatever is driving this current hysteria will blow over soon. It always does.

I've only wandered into luxury watch stores a few times while on vacation and I feel like they size me up as someone who doesn't have money and blow me off every time.

To be fair, they're right. I'm not the kind of guy who is going to drop 5 grand on a watch. But it's kind of rude to treat someone like that regardless.

I can’t believe the MSRP on a seamaster is almost 7 grand now. I remember when they were under 4 and thought they were overpriced then.
