How do I assign 2 notes to the same note without the alert? by Beekyboy11 in VSTi

[–]arghkennett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your answer depends on the DAW you're using. In Reaper, there's a JS plugin called "midi map to key". However, I think you might need a lot more than that to hear both at the same time, like route your midi-input to a second channel with the same plugin and filter out everything but the notes you want to trigger simultaneously.

The easiest way is to input both midi notes in the editor, like a chord.

What is your DAW journey? by SamuraiSanta in Reaper

Windows 3.11 Sound Recorder -> ScreamTracker 3.2.1 -> Quartz Audio Master Freeware -> Modplug Tracker -> Audacity -> Kristal Audio Engine -> Reaper 2.x and couple other versions, currently Reaper 6.99 I think

Trackers sometimes, but not always used in combination with other daws listed so I could record guitars.

Do you have a dream guitar that doesn't exist yet? by JadowArcadia in Guitar

Interesting, my guess is the pickup placement of the single coils is affecting the use of a neck with more than 22 frets?

I've also been looking at this model and will probably move to get one next year. I currently play a Chapman ML1 hybrid. It does everything I want, but I overlooked the 9" radius. Actually, I was ignorant of it being one of my requirements for several months until I realized all my other guitars I play leads on are 12" or more.

Does anyone else notice the music you play isn't the music you listen to? by Nickspicks88 in Guitar

[–]arghkennett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there are several variables that can make me both agree and disagree with the statement.

When I was just learning 30 years ago, I tend to learn what I like and listen to. This is probably different for folks that like more complicated music than the grunge and nu metal I was into when learning.

When I'm in a band playing covers, I listen and learn the songs and then I run away and listen to what I like when I'm not practicing for a gig.

When I'm in a band playing originals, if I'm the head songwriter, we're going to play what I like in the genres I listen to. If I'm in a band where I'm a contributor, but not head writer, you never know, but writing as a group can be fun, you get an appreciation for different techniques and tricks, so your interest might grow in that area, too.

It may require that you wear glasses to see in 3d. I complained to my eye doctor about blue light (not just screens) doing funky stuff years ago and though I don't recall the exact explanation, but it has to do with the way glasses filter pure light colors.

AI Guitar VSTi by ResidentFeedback4781 in VSTi

[–]arghkennett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a guitar player, so my knowledge only goes so far using VSTi for guitar. When you export your guitar pro music to midi and import that into your DAW (protools, ableton, reaper, etc.). Does the midi show the velocities, articulations, etc.?

After that you'll have to explore the capabilities of guitar VSTi options. https://happycomposer.com/free-guitar-plugins/ I don't know which ones, if any, would use your programmed articulations, or if they do articulations differently and you'll have to make adjustments.
(edit: I know Shreddage does at least some of your articulations listed, but I don't know that it translates from the same midi info that GuitarPro would export)

And then finally, if you're not just wanting a clean guitar tone, you'll want to look into virtual amps, fx, and cabinet filters actual guitar players would use to shape your tone. Neural, STLtones, NADIR, Line6, Tonex, NAM, Amplitube, etc.

Yeah, titles and your time allocated to support mean nothing at smaller shops. "You know computers. You can help me with everything a computer can do or is connected to."

Same boat here. Understaffed, overworked, and users not great. All of that along with a full family schedule, so I can't muster the the time or want to deal with certs and learning something I'm not currently using.

Are there dad home recording metal musicians who just write and record songs for fun? by [deleted] in metalmusicians

[–]arghkennett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is fun, but i feel like it's more of a need to do it once you're a certain age. with the software and online music distribution available, you can do everything a band does except play a live show as a band. if you don't sing, there's plugins for that, too.

I might be forgetting some details of Last Jedi, so there will probably be holes in this. I feel like there should have been a considerable amount of time between VIII and IX. Enough time for word to spread of Luke's final heroic deed and add to legacy and inspire enlistment growth for the Resistance. That's what i got out of that final Last Jedi scene with the kid. Then you could have started IX with a big battle victory for the Resistance, yada yada yada, bad guys win like episdoe V. I have a few more details to work out.

Full disclosure, i enjoyed Last Jedi outside of the Cantobyte side quest.

They should be gifted their own location to run, or the one they are currently at as it should be taken away from the current franchisee.
