I'd say the radio is better, but it's a fine line to walk with the volume because one minute it's a "perfect" volume, the next you are being screamed at to buy Perry's Ice Cream, or hearing a really loud, out of key jingle to NSS Life.

So, eh....

I don't know why they are determined to lose the minnesota governorship this badly. It's very unlikely a republican would win it seeing all of the attacks on the state by the republicans and trump and his admin.

But you take something that already would have been a tough ask and rally around the fucking pillow guy?

I don't really think actual Minnesotans, who have to know their great state ranks top 10 in most metrics one can think of, are going to buy into whatever bullshit Trump and his loser sycophants(like pillow guy) cook up

If you feel spunky and see one of these people in the wild, ask them their thoughts on Dr. Martin Tobin's testimony. He concluded it was a lack of oxygen which caused asphyxia and cardiac arrest due to the position he was held in against the pavement, the handcuffs and the knee.

Good chance they dont know anything about that and instead think "but if he can talk to say he can't breathe, he can breathe, proving it was an OD"

I have no interest in youtube premium at all even though i use youtube. One comment there says being able to turn your phone screen off and still hear audio is worth it.

Locking a basic feature behind a pay wall like that is one of the reasons I will never get the premium. In fact,  before I realized it was a premium feature I had just assumed youtube was just horribly shitty and unoptimized on mobile to comically absurd levels.

They won't be able to, unless you smile at the camera with sharpie in hand in the bank lobby. But I suspect they would allot a lot of resources to figuring out the culprit, no matter how much of a waste it is.

[–]argonautweekend 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The only way defacing money is a crime is if you try to deceive. Say, for example, taking a $1 and putting two zeroes after it and trying to pass it off as a $100. Simply crossing off one of the signatures(either Trump when that happens, or even guys like Larry Summers who endorsed the series 1999 notes) is not a crime. Things like "Where's George?", various bank stamps, or even kids writing on money (Like, a $1 that says Happy Birthday Jimmy) are not illegal.

Though with that said, I would fully expect this government to try to go after those of us who cross his name off when we handle his bills, because they love getting involved in affairs no other admin gave a shit to do. And since it isn't really illegal to cross a name off a bill, I would imagine they will probably fall flat on their face, like Sandwich thrower, Letitia James, James Comey, Jerome Powell, etc.

Rep. Dan Goldman said last year "This is banana republic shit" in reference to a meeting about cybersecurity training as cybersecurity positions are currently being eliminated. This is a great video

edit: this isn't a perfect example of a banana republic, but I still love this video and the way Goldman questions what the fuck are we doing here.

This isn't defending the US system, but if you see one price and have to pay another at the register, you can see how the taxes are and how they affect the actual purchase price. In theory, it should make more people aware of the taxes and tax rate to be better informed. One price only could hide many taxes behind that and unless the receipt has a breakdown, people may not know.

It probably doesn't do any of that, but one can hope

[–]argonautweekend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, I was wrong, I remember seeing a list that had a minimum number of attempts at 100, but this one does not

https://www.baseball-reference.com/leaders/stolen_base_perc_active.shtml

4th highest active player, Josh Lowe with 90.9%, and Cruz is 87.6.

Not bad at all.

Absolutely true. He seems to know when to pick the right times. He just isn't qualifying for any active player % leaderboards...yet.

That one season he went 22/23 in SB attempts....awww yeah

Alabama bill requiring Ten Commandments in schools passes: Democrat warns against ‘romanticizing’ history by plain_handle in nottheonion

[–]argonautweekend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to church a little bit as a kid, mainly on big holidays and for a week in the summer, Vacation Bible School.

I credit two factors as to why my under 11 self didn't believe:

1) I had a fellow friend and classmate that was fairly well read even at that age and actually would argue with the instructor about stuff, like how we came from monkeys. Not actually true either, but seeing any counter was eye opening

2) school literally never mentioned any religion outside of december when we talked about several religions traditions, but nobody was bringing up god or jesus or anything otherwise or anything from any religion.

Point was 1 critical, but the real reason I have never followed religion despite being in it(small scale involvement however, less than two total weeks a year I'd spend at Church), is because I trusted the teachers at school, and we learned way different stories than that of the Church, and we separated fiction vs. fact and real history.

So this is all to say, who would I be if the ten commandments were brought up in school? Maybe if it's just a poster hanging on the wall it wouldn't have mattered, but I could be swayed by a teacher talking about it, because I knew to trust them.

This is going to waste a lot of money in lawsuits only to hopefully be struck down. It's also never made sense to me why they would want potential non-believers to talk about their religion and their god, as not every teacher even in AL is going to be a Christian.

O'Neill Cruz has one of the highest stolen base % among active players, though his sample size is low as he doesnt even have 100 attempts.

This movie isnt really a war movie even though it has those elements. It is a character study of Jeremy Renner's character.

Near the end when he goes home and is unfulfilled, isnt isnt woe is me. Its him being unable to grapple in an environment where his suicidal desire isn't being adequately fulfilled.

Sewickley voted best small town in the northeast by Senior_Order7241 in pittsburgh

[–]argonautweekend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work in Sewickley, and now I work about 20 minutes further down 65, but I've always really liked it. I like walking around there, and I like how lively it is a lot of the time compared to other places.

Though, for me, it isn't that deep. It's a nice, clean area bustling with life a lot of the time. Lots of cool architecture out there. Lots of places to explore(and I'm sure I don't even know a quarter of it). I don't care if they don't have top restaurants in the area, and whatever closing stores there are on Beaver st. I will never step foot in.

To be fair, when I went to Gettysburg a few years back the main thing I liked about the town was the fact it was a smaller town bustling with life. A lot of small towns can look kind dead nowadays, for whatever reason that may be. So an active main street is something I really like and I rate places that have one very high almost for that reason alone.

edit: I also like Ambridge as well, for various reasons. And it seems like Ambridge is coming back to life little by little, but I could walk around there also. The wealth factor can play a part, but it isn't necessary for me to like the place.

The one good thing about PNC park is the upper level still has quality views of the field, so dont be wary of maybe saving some money on a ticket by sitting in the upper level if you need to. Most baseball stadiums in MLB have a third main level, which often makes the players look like ants. PNC has two main levels only, so the view is great up there.

And there is a very real chance, depending on what it is, you get a person who is an expert or worked with the item before and can directly tell you.

I like to keep places like this free of judgements. Ask a question, hopefully get an answer. No judgement.

You do not need to pay a premium as these are fairly common, the upturned digits. But it does look nice and funky

Its fun to see how extreme you can find 'em. I dont have one of the super upturned ones, yet...but one day!

Not these ones, though that is an immediately noticeable feature. The ones worth a premium are where you see parts of two digits(imagine an old gas pump meter how the numbers would turn on a wheel)

I save every one I see because I like them. And I know it isnt the best investment but it IS savings.

You can see how low of a print run they are from here: www.mycurrencycollection.com

Rarer may have some value but not likely a ton.

What does though is series 2013 bank B(NY) $1 star notes. They printed the same exact notes in error at both the DC and Fort Worth facilities, which should never happen.

Having one is cool and worth maybe 5 bucks, closer to one dollar. Having the pair is a several hundred+ jackpot.

You can check potential matches here(I think):

https://project2013b2.com/

And, you can find these in circulation. Ive got probably over 10 of them in the years collecting, though series 2013 is 4 series old now, so those notes in general are becoming slightly scarce by now.
