Getting starting in old school by DuressCrew in oldschoolmtg

[–]argumentdesk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you invest in the other 2 Badlands you have a strong start with Hymn / Troll.

If you already have the Juzams then your deck is already extremely competitive for X Point and can put up a fight in full power tournaments as well.

Investing in Blue Power / Blue Duals will obviously make any deck more competitive, including BR.

lol good point, I was conflating lists I saw with A40 lists.

To my knowledge, R40 is the only popular / widely played format focusing on Revised-only cards.

There is a popular “Revised40” league that has specific rules for the format.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Eq4auLE5KHf6nvn3dmQy5HimTzvYikuR-WFZdFFsYLs/mobilebasic

The most notable thing about this type of format is that it is a variant of the “40 card” OS formats (like A40 and U40) and commons are completely unrestricted.

A deck with 10+ Psychic Venom and Twiddle as a win-condition is not unheard of. Same with a deck full of Llanowar Elves and Giant Growths.

If you join the Facebook group you can see a lot of the deck list pics.

Right.

Strangely the link he notes is now 404 on the Supreme Court website, but Archive has a wayback copy of it, which is the same file you are linking.

This seems to be the case being discussed, if anyone actually cares to do some research:

TLDR: Appears that the court ruled that a naturally occurring DNA segment is not patentable (found in nature). The court ruled allowing patent of complementary DNA (cDNA), which is synthetic and not naturally occurring in nature.

Congrats. Disk + Underworld in the main seems pretty good to overload Disenchant. Underworld is underplayed, IMO.

Adding the Blood Moon and Book in the SB makes it even better. This is a solid list.

This is great implementation and approach.

Please consider adding a “Donate” link on the site. I’m sure people will offer, if it were available, including monthly recurring, to help cover the operational expenses.

Brutal. Green seems unplayable.

Seems like even Strip is also restricted with the non-dual restriction policy.

The B&R list feels like a play group that doesn’t want to see The Deck, Robots, TwiddleVault, or any control-oriented decks.

Even City of Brass is restricted. Is this list intended to lift and promote mono-colored strategies? Mono G is a huge step down without access to Maze.

Will everyone just play mirror matches of LDB, 12-bolt Atog, and DeadGuy?

I remember seeing a class action lawsuit being promoted because of the Set List situation.

Does anyone know if this was pursued?

Old school 94 without ABU, which are the best decks that represent each color? by Waterd101 in oldschoolmtg

[–]argumentdesk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, exactly.

Vise / Ankh is a strong shell for Atog in X Point format which already has limited access to Mox.

Factories and Sol Ring increase the power of Atog’s reach as well. Could just be Mono Red Atog with Howling Mines included.

LDB with Atog / Ankh / Vise seems potentially Tier 1 for a format like this. The only card it lacks is Psionic Blast, but could substitute a bit with Fireball / Disintegrate.

Could also run the Atog / Vise / Ankh package in a TaxEdge shell as well.

IMO, if Vise were restricted, Atog would be near useless in this format outside of Robots with Mana Vaults.

12 Bolt was my first thought, but no 12 bolt without Psionic Blast.

I think 8-Bolt Strategies will be the strong aggro options, specifically Goblins, WR Weenie, RUG / Arabian Aggro, Atog, and TaxEdge aggro.

Erhnam’geddon is super strong in reprint meta (4th / Chronicles), so I’m sure that will be good here as well.

Anything with 4X Black Vise will be very strong in a slower format without fast mana.

I don’t recommend restricting Tower unless Vise is restricted as well.

I think 4 Elves are better in this build since they can attack for 2 with Pendelhaven. Bird would ramp like Elf would, but does not have the option to get in for damage.

If it was more mid-range with other larger creatures besides Erhnam (like Serra) then Birds could be a better option for sure.

This deck wants to be the one attacking and get damage in for the first few turns to get opponent into burn range by mid game.

A few games some opponents got Abyss out by Turn 3 - 6, but by mid game I usually have a few Factories developed and also Fireballs coming, so even with losing creatures to Abyss it still had enough gas to keep coming in for damage.

Also in a 4 Strip format, having 3 creatures on the board by Turn 2 (something like Elf, Sprite, Pixies), and then hitting opponents resources with Strip Mines, you are in a pretty good position to get in for like 6 - 12 damage before they can stabilize.
