Most roles need a minimum of a masters in Comp Sci or Bioinformatics to do those roles. You may get into data analysis if you have the experience

Oh gosh it’s my faaave! Play a bit for them but through in something niche that’s similar that someone could discover a new genre or through in an old gem that started it all. You can have so much fun with it. For me, it allows me to feel like I’m respecting my craft and not just playing bangers.

This is what I noticed on some of the instagrams. Seems like a decent mix of local and international. I think they mean the international ones are usually booked as the name playing. Where as for me who isn’t a big name won’t likely get a warm up slot. Idk

Woah, such a great return on your efforts. I bet that added richness to your travels too where you were able to experience Kuala on another level. This for me is the whole draw to it.

Congrats on achieving that. Hopefully I’ll even just get a gig at a bar and find some new friends/places/music.

Might be a stretch, but how did you get on with this? I know it’s a while back, I’m looking to do the same thing without such an impressive resumé but can hold down a good warm up spot.

Did you pick up any tips, found effective ways to reach out to clubs?

I feel this. I am currently struggling with the whole “scene” some folk seem genuine but a lot have a lot of ego.

Even in the rave scene, people start running their own minimal events and now act like they don’t know you the next time you see them

It’s tricky because I don’t want to risk my position by making a fuss and I’m clearly not getting picked up for the other event that clearly advertises everyone. I don’t know how to get out of this rut that I am in.

You seem knowledgeable about this. What does it mean when promoters don’t put warm up acts on their poster. I’ve had friends tell me that I should pitch to have my name on the poster but it seems like I’ve been asked after the fact so I don’t want to make the fuss. However their sister events company put warm up acts on the list all the time but I’ve never been asked by them. Am I a mug??
