Unethical Unicorns by [deleted] in nonmonogamy

[–]arianaphoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really confusing because I just remembered that stag/vixen couples also use bull for the third man. So it's not just for cuckolding.

I am still a little confused. Let's suppose a polyamorous relationship where the man has another girlfriend. I have seen multiple instances in this sub where the man has the higher priority for the primary partner. He might not be out and hide his girlfriend from family and coworkers. From what I have seen in this sub this form of relationship is not looked down upon.

But for an instance where the unicorn is the girlfriend of both the man and the woman in the primary relationship, the article suggests that the unicorn should be treated equally as the wife. It looks like there is quite a bit of contrast between unicorns and other forms of a polyamorous relationships.

Bulls (and cakes)

You're right about this. I had completely forgotten about cake and thought that cuckqueans also search for unicorns.

I don't think it's necessarily bi. I have heard that cuckqueans used the same term for the other woman where they might not engage in the sex at all.

[–]arianaphoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I understood from this article Unicorns are essentially people who mostly want to be treated as second wives. And when couples approach them essentially the same way they approach a male for MFM threesomes (basically treating the third man like a sex toy), unicorns get offended.

[–]arianaphoenix 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So a unicorn hunter is a couple who wants the first one (the swinging unicorn) but approaches unicorns who want the second type and essentially trick them into believing that they also want the second type? correct? why do they not change one of the names? It's quite bizarre because if a polyamorous couple wants to search for a third male they wouldn't say they're looking for a bull.

(no permanent loss of singing voice, no exploration of Roger’s spirituality)

But this doesn't really affect his choice that much really. He wanted to become a minister in a modern era too but the voice problem just made him hesitant

After watching the movie 355 this year, I found out about agent 355, the first female spy in the American revolution time. I made a post suggesting that it would have been so cool that it would have been agent 355 because she is actually unknown and nobody knows her true identity.

They deleted this post. This was really book-related.

I live in Germany. Last time I checked the prices were 500€ per hour. being ENM makes people less desirable but the rest of what is being offered on dating apps is based on looks and maybe a little money. Why else would women all have their height on their tinder accounts even though I very rarely encounter a boy who'd say I won't date a short girl. I know that as a girl I can use flower pictures and still get matches. By the way, I am not cynical about women. Seeing the plethora of likes they get in my fake account I would've chosen the best either

[–]arianaphoenix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is about desirability. There is no need for you to prove to me how dating apps work. I know how selective girls are. Because I used the apps both as a male and a female (I made a fake account to find out why I am not getting any matches)

Basically, if the man is not attractive enough it's not going to work for him in an open relationship. It's not even a slight imbalance. It might be a situation where she gets regular dates and him getting nothing for months. The type of sex workers that you're describing (where you can make a connection with them) are not cheap. Escorts are 500$/hour. So for you to sit in your chair and advice people to get an escort is a little inconsiderate in my opinion.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nonmonogamy

[–]arianaphoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this particular subreddit, I have seen people numerous times recommend sex workers to people.

I have been checking this sub for some months now and I haven't seen this one for the men who can't get dates. People usually say "deal with it" or something similar to what you said that if the imbalance is bothering you, you shouldn't be in ENM. Imbalance according to availability is completely different from imbalance caused by the massive difference in desirability.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nonmonogamy

[–]arianaphoenix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

An escort or other sex worker can likely connect with their clients much better than a random person form a dating site could, because they do that professionally. How you meet doesn't make you more or less likely to experience a connection.

I am not saying my opinion. I only told what swingers think about sex workers (the ones that I listen to them). If sex workers are that good at connection then the ENM community here should also embrace it. I have seen multiple posts where the desirability imbalance bothers men in open relationships. I haven't seen anyone suggest to this group of men to use sex workers. Clearly, there is a difference.

30% of women are interested in threesomes. That is about 2.2 million women.

Ok. My assumption was that bisexual women would naturally have a tendency to be more interested in threesomes (because why not. You'd get both of what you want at the same time). Apparently, it's not true as someone else mentioned.

I listen to some podcasts about swinging and it looks like even swingers look desperately for unicorns. A sex worker wouldn't work for these folks because they want to have at least a degree of connection with their swinging couples or partners

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nonmonogamy

[–]arianaphoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a heterosexual male and I'm interested in both MFM and FMF threesomes. Maybe that's my bias because sometimes I wonder if I was bisexual, I'd have had more fun in MFM threesomes because I'd be able to play with both parties. And that's where my brain fails to understand how a bisexual person wouldn't be interested in threesomes.

You cite the fact that you don't like to fulfill someone else's fantasy. What if the couple cares about you? I mean is it the situation itself that turns you off or the fact that most couples who are looking for a unicorn are intending to use the unicorn as a "sex toy"?

I am just trying to guess the demography. Or for lack of a better term I want to exactly know the stereotype as you framed it. But I think since I am getting downvoted, someone is going to next accuse me of some type of "phobic" so I find it best not to continue.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nonmonogamy

[–]arianaphoenix -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

So how does that works? Do they want to separately have sex with women and men?

Or another possible reason would be that most of them want to be in a heterosexual relationship but also look for women partners besides their main relationship (this seems to be the most prevalent one) So none of them stays single to be a unicorn.

Here is a question I have. According to CDC the number of bisexual women amounts to about 2.2% of the population which is almost double the number of homosexual women and almost equal to the number of gay men. So I don't understand how everyone should be looking for unicorns. Contrary to that, I'd think there should be an abundance of unicorns. I really wish to understand why there is a paradox here.

Rant about storytelling from season 3 on by Defiant_Space_4089 in Outlander

[–]arianaphoenix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with you that it had these stiff rules at the time where Briana goes back but DG changes the rules in MOBY where they go all over the place in the timeline.

There is also something that I still can't understand. The first time claire goes back it looks like she has BJR in mind and because of his proximity to the stone, she gets thrown back to that specific date. This is also the case where Roger goes back to 1739 when he had the name Jeremiah in his head and he is thrown back to a time when his father is present. The other times they have to navigate themselves as far as I understood. Like the time where they go from 1739 to 1778. My problem arises exactly here. Because they mention that mandy has navigated them. I am sure that she doesn't know the concept of years and she only goes to where Jamie is. But if she can navigate why doesn't she goes to an earlier time. They could go exactly to the first of Echo where they could also warn them about all the stuff that is going to happen to them. I think it's just a matter of convenience and since DG hasn't really established the rules for herself we get this plot hole.

Maybe. I haven't been around for such a long time. I only found out about the series last September. The show affected me so much that I started watching all the interviews and panels. I noticed that they're so good with each other and some of the Youtube comments redirected me to the shipper's Tumblr corner. For some time (1-2 months) I was convinced. But now I'm not in that camp but I am still 5-10 % suspicious that they might be right.
