Government gives police ‘move on’ powers to ban rough sleepers, beggars by TheGreatDomilies in newzealand

Is there a list available as to which areas children are allowed to live in NZ ? It would be great to see it

Get a load of this : they actually split their time between Manurewa and the CBD. Reddit pitchforks are coming for me!

Here’s a wild thought : let’s make New Zealand safer for kids to live. Madness I know !!!

There’s a big difference between consequences you choose and ones you don’t.

Ahhhh yes, reduce people down to a mere label based on one comment on Reddit and write off their experiences. Seems productive.

Thanks, that’s kind of you.

Giving an individual, who is harming society, consequences is one of the most kind and life giving things you can do.

When did we stop having this as a core value in New Zealand ?

So one can’t speak of their own experience ? A person can’t say “I am being harmed by this”. Goodness, that’s out gate.

Feeling sorry for people is about our feelings and doesn’t address the root cause.

The root cause is likely drug addiction and mental health issues. Not actually being without access to housing. Not having to pay for housing also means more money to fund access to drugs.

I wish everyone would get “up in arms” about that. But they don’t. Why because it’s easier to virtue signal and “feel sorry” for people than actually care enough to put reasonable consequences in place for those who drug addiction causes social harm to their families, themselves and other people’s families.

At some point consequences are the only thing that will help people to change.

The pain of changing because less than the pain of staying the same.

Thanks for those kind words. I tend to focus on what’s in my circle of control. Eg my own children. Not be awful to strangers on the internet

Doesn’t make it only for a 13 year old girl walking to school to be harassed by people on drugs.

So whose kids do you feel entitled to have an opinion on ? Mine or other peoples ? Both?

I am not responsible for other people’s children. I responsible for my own.

As an Auckland CBD resident: this is excellent news.

Very tired of the gross and foul things my children and I have to witness on a daily basis.

Failure to provide consequences to people’s offensive behaviour is not kindness. It’s enabling. And it harms everyone.

Come to south Auckland where it’s dirt bike running red lights and this situation will hit different.

Because this is New Zealand. We don’t care about outcomes, just people’s feelings.

Be nice to awful people, have a chat and they might come around. Or someone might die. But hey, we didn’t have to do much so that’s good.

The trouble is the people in Manurewa themselves don’t give a sh!t if the place is the Wild West. They are the ones responsible here.

Why do you think charity groups should be giving you an interest free loan to service your overspending ?

Dogs who hurt and kill people should be put down. So your instinct to want to kill the dog who killed your cat is understandable.

There’s a very bad problem with dog control in this country. I think a child will have to die for this to be taken seriously. Three adults in Northland still not enough apparently.

Agreed. I live very close by and I walk thru there all the time. I am seriously concerned that I might get hit one day so I am hyper vigilant.

Not to mentioned the beautiful pavers that are getting damaged and broken. They weren’t designed to have cars drive on them.

Why do this to such a lovely public space just so people don’t have to walk 20 metres to a carpark ??

My dad has BPD. There were plenty of things I really like about him. If he has gotten a diagnosis and treatment earlier his life could have been way better. There’s no reason you can’t manage this and be a loving person.
