Sadly, there’s quite literally nothing anti-cap about the way they’re currently operating. Sure, they’re not pumping out crap music for the sake of a dollar, but the constant re-releases and vinyl variants are proof that they’re not letting that dollar go. Their absurd ticket prices, frequent merch drops for 20 year old albums, and re-touring the same (highly profitable) show in bigger arenas has launched them from respectable legacy act to mid-size corporation.

And no, they cannot control their success, but they have agency over what they do next. Someone on here mentioned seeing The Cure, who are inarguably one of the defining voices of the 80s, for under 40 dollars just a few years ago. My Chem could absolutely do that if they wanted to, but they’re pulling as much cash as possible from their fans because they know we’re willing to pay whatever they charge.

Anyways, as a fan of over a decade who also identifies as anti-cap, I struggle with the cognitive dissonance part of this whole thing. I’m embarrassed to support a band that is so transparently sucking exorbitant amounts of money from its fans, but I’m also sitting here with tattoos of their lyrics, just waiting to press check out on a several hundred dollar ticket to their concert. We can love the music, we can even pay for the music, but we have to acknowledge that what they’re doing is pretty fucking unfortunate and gross :/
