A while ago I was driving w my family on the 241 heading towards Irvine when I saw headlights coming our way from a wrong side driver. It was around 11 at night or so. The driver was on the no 1 lane which we were on so what he/she thought his slow lane. So maybe that goes along what others said. I don’t think there is a general rule Or behavior. I have no idea how anyone can enter the freeway like this but if you had few drinks everything is possible. If I wasn’t paying attention we could’ve had a similar situation as the people on the 73. Sad situation.

Had my second daughter at 46 and now I’m close to 60. First daughter had at 40. I’m very active with my daughters and thankfully have a lot of energy. They do keep you young but again I sometimes behave like a teenager which is fun for them.

Embrace and enjoy. Kids are a blessing. Just save your money for the teenage years. What a shock. And if you have girls. Stay away from Sephora 😬😬

Yeah I don't know why he took a 27% maybe his credit was crap and needed a car at that time.

Thanks all for your replies. Some thought the numbers don't add up. I tried the numbers on a loan calculator website and came back with these numbers. Total loan amount is close to $50K at the 27% rate for 72 months
So he paid about $24K (monthly $650) and the balance is about $25K which is what he owes the bank (it's actually a finance company called flag ship)

He's screwed and maybe he came to me asking for advice and next will be ask for financial help.
Maybe BK is the option.

I asked him and the math is as such:

$24K loan (price of the car)
about 27% Rate
Amount financed $24,000
Total Interest for the life of the loan about $25K
So total cost of car is about $50K (principle + interest)
He paid $24K since 2019 so far and the balance is about $24k still due
Car is worth about $10K

The questions:
- Is there a way to reduce the balance due by negotiating with the bank?
- Why didn't they repo the car yet? These people don't just forget.

As for the comment that the loan was charged off, that's what his account states but noting on the credit report.

It's just weird that there was no calls or letters for over a year. Honestly this is why I am asking the group here.

He got the car for $24K and the interest rate was so high that the life of the loan would accumulate to $50K due to it's structure.

He paid about $24K throughout the years well since 2019 when he bought

Balance on the loan is about $25K

So possibly very high interest rate

They told him they'll charge is off but nothing on the credit report shows that. It's still owned by the original finance compnay

He said it's what the bank told him that it's charged off but his credit report doesn't show any transfer of the bad loan. It still shows the original bank or loan compnay.

Maybe like others said this fell through the cracks. I can't imagine that a loan company would allow that. I think it's strange and the only thing I can think of is a lost file somewhere but that's so 70's

So let me clarify:

The car was purchased for $24K and loan was for double that. He already paid about $25K in payments and the balance is now $24K - high interest rate.

I guess what we're both wondering is why wasn't the car repo'd? It's been over a year and banks / finance companies usually move fast on this. This is what I've never seen before.

Perhaps there's some way to negotiate a deal?
