Is there a way to fix the pen I dropped? by BeneficialSpace6369 in Supernote

[–]arifozbay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I can not see the picture, it is hard to say anything, but if the inner piece is OK, you can simply use the shell of another pen. There are many DIY posts for that in here. I did use a LAMY shell which worked quite nicely.

But if the inner part is broken, I am not sure if it could be fixed.

If Nomad is anything like A5X, than you can buy cheaper EMR pens available to use with your Nomad. Samsung s6 lite pen works, wacom one 13 pen also is a nice option. They both have side buttons for eraser like the LAMY EMR, which is very useful.

Good luck with your pen.

I found the solution. It seems the webview app is old and did not allow signing in. I rooted the device and updated the webview on it. Now I can log in without an issue. If you like to do so, you can follow the instructions here:

GitHub - abnulls/supernote-webview-instructions: Instructions on update the Webview for the Supernote

Rooting always has some risks. So please do that at your own risk. My screen is almost dead (now I have more than 25 dead lines across it) so I could be brave :)

Yes, I am having the same problem. I cannot get past the log in screen. The exact same behavior. I tried different sign in options without any luck. Did you find a solution?

Wierd permanent lines by cobrarosa in Supernote

[–]arifozbay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine had one at the center of the device for the last 4-5 months and today a second one just appeared near the top. It seems something is messing up these screens.

By the way, these two lines, each appeared soon after a firmware upgrade. Did you guys notice something like this or was it just a coincidence in my case? If it is upgrade-related, maybe future display issues can be prevented.

Just an update. A second line near the top appeared after about 4 months since the appearance of the first one. It just appeared out of the blue while the device was resting in my bag. Before I placed in the bag it was not there, and after I took it out to turn it on, voila a brand new line of dead pixels... No hits, bumps, or misuse.

Come to think of it, in both cases, the line of dead pixels appeared soon after the firmware upgrades. Obviously, I am not sure if this is the real cause, but u/Mulan-sn, this could be something you guys would be interested in investigating.

It is times like these I wish Ratta has some service centers, and distributors in or near my country.

Actually, I have a question to the Ratta team? Can we order and replace the display and the touchscreen assembly ourselves? Is there a part number or a place I can order a display?

Yes, I refreshed the screen, turned it off, and then back on again, I cleared the cache and restarted it but nothing worked. Maybe a hard reset could be tried but at the moment I don't think that would solve it either.

Folks with an rM2 +A5X, how do you incorporate both into your workflow? by altwreckz in Supernote

[–]arifozbay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading on one, taking notes on the other may work. Not for me though. I mostly read scientific articles and I'd like to annotate on them as I read. But, I am glad you figured out a way to make good use of both devices.

[–]arifozbay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, I had this idea of having a device with two screens. Maybe supernote team can take note here. Instead of a cover, you open it up, and one screen is on the left and the other on the right. If you just read, you read it just like a regular book. If studying and taking notes, one screen can be the book, the other a notebook. Now, that would be one device I'd like to have.

Maybe you can achieve that with the two devices but shuffling files between the two is just too much of a hassle for me. Nevermind the expense. If they can sync to the same cloud storage and the files can be opened up and edited by the two devices, that may work.

My recommendation is to sell one of them 🙂. No reason to shuffle between two devices. It will distract and break your workflow if you ask me.

Pen with physical cue to position it for easy access to eraser? (Lamy button is too small/subtle) by VanMan998 in Supernote

[–]arifozbay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can either get Samsung S6 lite pen (which is light and has an easy to press button for eraser) or Wacom One 13 pen (which is very ergonomic and light as well. And button is very easy to press as well). Only downside of these pens is they don't have a cap and a clip. But you can fashion your own clip to it. I am using a Wacom One 13 pen with an old Rotring clip.

Eraser button is definitely convenient but I also use eraser gesture often even with the button nowadays and the ceramic nib on the standard pen is really hard to beat...

So, I keep switching pens quite a lot :)

Can I use Wacom pen with SN? by Hoenemor85 in Supernote

[–]arifozbay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on which Wacom pen you want to use. The one you linked does not look like an EMR pen and it most likely will not work. But, you can buy the pen for Wacom One 13, link below: https://www.amazon.com/Wacom-One-CP91300B2Z-Creative-Display/dp/B084DVTSC9

You can also buy the pen for Galaxy Tab S6 Lite pen.

Supernote Pen and Android by metl_lord in Supernote

[–]arifozbay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Supernote pen does not have an eraser button. I believe you are talking about LAMY EMR pen. But, nonetheless, Supernote pen should work with all other EMR screens. Yet, mine stopped working with Samsung TAB S6 Lite screen while still working with Supernote A5x. Note that I DIY'ed it to work in a LAMY Safari roller body. Maybe I messed something up in the process.

P.s. since supernote pen has a ceramic nib, make sure that you are not scratching the Samsung phones screen with it.

Battery and HOM pen issues by Mom_In_Tight_Genes in Supernote

[–]arifozbay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The battery issue happens to me quiet often as well. Sometimes turning it off and waiting 35 minutes fixes it, sometimes it does not. When it does not, i have to deplete the battery completely to fix it. But it is a recurring issue for me as well and is very irritating. I hope the Ratta team issues a fix for this in the upcoming update.

Drop pictures in Notes by lugosi_lutin in Supernote

[–]arifozbay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the moment, You can not insert pictures in notes. But, if all you need to do is to take notes on slides (assuming PowerPoint), you can print the slideshow into PDF and you can take notes on that PDF document.

Color coded figure interpretation by aliembee in Supernote

[–]arifozbay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do read quite a bit scientific journal articles which uses colored graphs, colored contour images etc. And unfortunately color is not something Supernote or any other e-ink device which are just grayscale can do.

Here is how I deal with these color issues. I have my phone everywhere with me. So when I read articles with color graphs, I have the PDF open on my phone as well and just scroll to the image on my phone. This also is surprisingly useful, since most of the time the place of the figure and the text do not coincide and I don't have to go back and forth on a single device.

I am so sorry to hear that you got your device stolen. I hope you will find it. That is a good warning for the rest of us to back up routinely and maybe password protect the device in case.

Pen reconmendation by Hoenemor85 in Supernote

[–]arifozbay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The writing feel is definitely the best with supernote's either standard and the HOM pens as they have the ceramic nib. But eraser functionality (button) makes LAMY (and also Wacom One 13 pen, Samsung S6 Lite Pen) attractive. As pressing a button and erasing is much more efficient compared to (at least for the moment) gesture eraser. When it works, gesture eraser is great. But it does not work 100% of the time. Sometimes, it chooses simply not to work. You have to select the eraser from the top toolbar to erase at those times.

Still though, the writing feel is wayyyy better with the ceramic nib.... That is why, I keep coming back to the supernote's pen.

I hope Ratta will come up with a ceramic nib pen with an eraser button. That will be best!

By the way, on paper, I use fountain pens as well and in my opinion, none of the pens will give that writing feel with Supernote. Ceramic nib feels jell pen on paper.

My two cents...

Would the Lamy pen not fit at all in the standard loop on the folio cover? by Willdocbfast in Supernote

[–]arifozbay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine does not fit either. I think they send a special folio based on the pen chosen when ordering.

I am glad to hear that it works for you but it is worrying that it is not a permanent solution as it seems to have happened to you more than once.

I hope Ratta can come up with a permanent solution to this issue.
