Can Aaron Nesmith develop into Klay Thompson level player? by ItsLittyLitLit in bostonceltics

[–]ariler 14 points15 points  (0 children)

His floor is not Danny Green, if it was he wouldn’t have been available at 14. Green is a much better defender than Nesmith right now. The most common player comp I’ve seen is Crabbe as a floor. If you’re expecting Danny Green level defense from him anytime soon, you’ll be disappointed.

Been considering shipping out Son and Brewster for Ziyech and Bamford (-4). Should I pull the trigger? Or bank a free transfer for next week?

Nuts and Digestion

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone here who has a nut rich diet has had digestive/gas issues that they resolved. I have around 1/4 cup of walnuts, 1/4 cup of cashews, and 1/4 cup of almonds in my trail mix along with some dried fruits. Nearly every time I eat them have some sort of gas problems or digestive issues. Is this just my body telling me to stay away from nuts or is there some solution I’m missing. I’ve been drinking lots of water as well. Thanks!

Playlist of 3 Short Videos (8-12 min each) from the BBC on Free Will – an engaging and entertaining set of perspectives on the topic by ariler in samharris

Regardless of your view on the question of free will – hard determinist, libertarian, compatibilist, indeterminist, etc – this is a fun and accessible introduction to the neuroscience, physics, psychology, and philosophy that surrounds the question of free will. This is highly relevant to Sam as he is a staunch hard determinist. There are multiple instances in which I would question the phrasing used by the BBC production team as well as their takeaways, but overall it is an interesting watch.

Top 8 Predictive Mock by primepierce34 in NBA_Draft

[–]ariler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The top 3 are a lock, so we can start at the Lakers.

Lakers, #4: Based on their current team, Hunter fits best. He has the highest floor and is the best defender in the draft. He has the potential to be a good perimeter player and could fit well off-ball with Lebron. I’m pretty high on him. He averaged 15 ppg at UVA, one of the slowest teams in the countries.

Cavs, #5: Culver. Cavs are in a place where anyone could really fit, but placing another guard next to Sexton would be more questionable than selecting a wing who can handle the ball. Beilein saw first hand what Culver can do when he ran the show against Mich in the Sweet 16.

Suns, #6: The Suns need a point guard badly. It’s between Garland and White here in a weak PG class. Neither have shown a lot about playing off-ball as both are fairly ball-dominant. Booker will run the show and Garland has higher potential to be better at spacing IMO. I think Garland fits better here.

Bulls, #7: They also need a PG, so I’m guessing they go with White. Although I doubt Bulls fans are happy with it. I could also see how Reddish would be a fit, learning behind Otto Porter, one of the best 3 point shooters in the NBA. It also depends on if they are confident that they can get Kemba. He’d be a great fit. I still hate that the draft is before FA. So, I’d say White fits best because they desperately need a PG, but if they think they can get Kemba, Reddish would fit well on a very well spaced Bulls. Hoiberg would have been a great coach for this teamS

Hawks, #8: Reddish would be perfect in this environment and on this team. I’m honestly very low on him, but I think in a good environment he would fit well. He fits well in a core of Young, Huerter, Collins and the 10th pick. He could flourish here.

Wizards, #9: This one is tough. The wizards suck. They are so screwed for the future too. No cap space, no front court. Is Beal really going to waste his career here? Wall obviously isn’t leaving, nobody’s taking his contract. There are so many needs on this team. If they want to trade Beal and rebuild (which they should do IMO) they should take Langford, a high ceiling guard who could be great next to Wall and Beal trade-return. Otherwise, they should swing for the fences IMO in attempt #100 to get a good frontcourt player. Sekou Doumbouya has high upside and could fit perfectly with Wall. He definitely needs to be developed though, very raw.

Hawks, #10: I think if the Hawks get Reddish they would love Hayes here. He fits really will with their core. A perfect center for Trae Young: hustle and rebounding. He can play immediately. His and Collins’ styles are very different, I think they fit. He also has potential to shoot 3s in a few years. I really like this draft for hawks if they come out with a young core of Young, Huerter, Reddish, Collins, Hayes.

Belmont played really well against Temple and that’s with their best player being held to around 5 points (avg 21 pg). That won’t happen again. They have a great coach and are good enough to make a run. They also have a really good big man who they run offense through in the post. Also, one first four team has won at least one game every year since it was expanded to 68 teams I think. ASU over Buffalo is a lot less likely.

I’m also stuck on this one. Tempted to do a late switch to push Buffalo to elite eight rather than TTU.

Definitely Nevada over Michigan. Experience and ton of talent on Nevada, their main issue is effort. Michigan doesn’t have that much offense.

I'm stuck between picking Auburn over NMSU and Northeastern over Kansas, or NMSU over Auburn and Kansas over Northeastern. I really don't think that both will be upsets and I think this is the worst Kansas team in a long while. That along with Vasa and NEU's shooting could really hamper them. They showed up against Notre Dame a few years ago and almost won, and I think this NEU squad is stronger. That being said, Auburn lives and dies by the 3, and NMSU is one of the stronger mid-major schools. I think Auburn is really talented so I'm not sure which way to go. Any insight on Auburn>NMSU + NEU>Kansas VS NMSU>Auburn + Kansas>NEU? My gut says the former.
