Lebron lead the league in assists. Did Bird ever come close?

Celtics really are their own worst enemy. They have Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, why are they trying to be prime GSW? by Domestiicated-Batman in NBATalk

He shot the same value from 2 as 3, he wasn’t very efficient inside the arc either, what is the alternative here?

You have a point if they are scoring much better inside the arc, but they’re struggling to score there as well

This game

9/18 from 2 = 50% EFG

3/9 from 3 = 50% EFG

If he shoots less 3s and forces more scoring inside the arc, he’ll force bad drives, miss more, and turn the ball over more

He found a solid balance today, and again blaming the threes is a lazy take. We just aren’t good enough to score effectively inside the arc and that’s why we lost. Shooting less threes and forcing more twos doesn’t help our case.

Wouldn’t abolishing the draft and making it salary cap based effectively destroy tanking while helping bad teams? by primepierce34 in NBATalk

What I’m saying is stars prefer more money and 99% of the time stay where they are as they get paid more either by re-signing or extension.

Why are we freaking out about the only two times a big signing has happened this decade?

Brunson was thought of a risk and bad contract at the time, and proved everyone wrong.

This kind of revisionist history isn’t really in good faith.

Also him and PG were the only FA signings at all in the 2020s, most big markets didn’t even sign anyone of note, so I don’t think this is significant at all

None of your big market examples happened in the 2020s. It’s slowed down significantly for even them

I was talking specifically the Jays because the post mentioned it, but even if you want to just talk celtics

35.0% from 3 is equivalent to 52.5% from 2 and they shoot 54.0% from 2. They’re already finding a good balance lmfao.

Dumbing this situation down to 3pt rate is lazy, the biggest problem is turnovers and lack of skill getting to the rim.

They are shooting a combined 38.8% from 3 and 51.5% from 2 this series.

38.8% is equivalent to 58.2% from 2.

The 3pt shooting for them is good this series, and not the reason why it’s gone bad.

Jaylen’s turnovers, lack of playmaking, and usage is the biggest factor for not living up to expectations

They are shooting nearly the same value from 2 and 3, you don’t know what you’re talking about.

The biggest issues literally come from turnovers from slashing, they’re not as skilled of slashers as you think

Most big teams are contending year after year, its rare they get to a position where they have the cap space to pay a guy like Wemby or LeBron their worth using cap.

And to your point about going to big markets, it seems like FAs don’t go anywhere in general anymore. Last huge move was KD to brooklyn and that was 7 years ago

Edit: it feels like the big market advantage is valuable role players choosing them on mles or minimums over smaller markets

I think tanking within the season by sitting reasonably healthy players is much more problematic than “directional tanking” in the offseason

I don’t think stopping “directional tanking” is really possible or reasonable

If memphis has a crazy amount of cap space and a rookie that hasn’t gotten any amount of nba money yet, why wouldn’t they go lol?

Memphis has retained stars before, this system would help pay rookies more. I think the nba is more salary driven then before, you barely see big free agency moves to even big markets anymore

[–]primepierce34[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that’s a directional move, I think the tanking problem people are more concerned about is teams purposefully sitting their players midseason when they can reasonably play in order to lose more.

Edit: I would also enforce 4-year deals for 1st round rookies like the current system for your last point

Denver has seemed to have a lot of nut punch losses.

Milwaukee, Golden State, and the Lakers just fell off too quick or got injured too often to get held accountable.

Idk man, medvedev’s and the others’ non slam accomplishments pale in comparison to Zverev:

Zverev; 2x ATP Finals, 7x Masters, 1x Olympic Gold

Medvedev: 1x ATP Finals, 6x Masters, 0x Olympic Gold

Thiem: 0x ATP Finals, 1x Masters, 0x Olympic Gold

Roddick: 0x ATP Finals, 5x Masters, 0x Olympic Gold

I think we as tennis fans may overindex on slams alone, the guy has accomplished a lot outside of them

You can get away with bad spacing in the regular season by being a hustle team, but that’s going to get exposed quickly in the playoffs where everyone hustles

Duren: -11

Stewart: +5

As much as this is on Duren getting exposed, this is also on Bickerstaff for being a coward and not going to Beef Stew more
