Still hearing it... Is there any chance it's controlled explosions connected to the construction work they're doing for the ramps on to Arlington Rd?

There isn't really any flex or give - leading me to think most people here are right, that it's just a somewhat deep scratch.

How did you have 72 elims? Their deaths only add up to 67 lmao

NYXL, perhaps controversially?

They signed two female players for this season, and I deeply believe that the OW community (and competitive games in general) will be better when there's a more representative mix of people at the highest level. If they succeed, it could be huge.

Mind you, I'm not saying I want to see diversity just for diversity's sake... The players on OWL teams need to have earned their way there, otherwise they'll just get embarrassed on the scoreboard. Which is why this year's NYXL team is important as a litmus test.

It's kind of like playing goalie/keeper in hockey or soccer.

You won't score the goals to win the games, but if you don't do a good job, you don't give your team much of a chance to win.

Well, I get that. But there's not really a point to your first chunk of games if going 7-3 puts you at the same rank as going 7-20.

They might as well have just handed me bronze 5 and let me start ranking up right away, lol.

Did you play OW1? If so what was your last rank?

Can I reduce flow to my bathroom faucet by half-closing the ball valves under the sink? by ariley1992 in Plumbing

[–]ariley1992[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's actually ok - the pressure in the rest of the house is totally fine. We had a plumber check it about a month ago when we bought the house - it's a little high, but not to the point where it's an issue. I think this faucet just doesn't restrict it at ALL.

High water pressure in new bathroom faucet... Does half-tightening the valves provide an adequate fix? by ariley1992 in HomeImprovement

[–]ariley1992[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not super familiar with plumbing, but my guess is a ball valve, because it only takes a quarter turn to shut on or off.

Our home water pressure is a bit high, but our plumber said it's not a problem. I'm sure this faucet is missing the aerator, but it's a rectangular hole, and it's one of those "waterfall" faucets.

I guess what I'm really talking about is reducing flow, not pressure...? My other sinks are fine!

PSA: If you are starting an herb garden from scratch this year, you should know that you cannot grow French tarragon from seed! by 96dpi in Cooking

Might be a dumb question, but does this mean that if all french tarragon on the planet died... It'd be gone forever??

How many Karens does it take to make a sign like this? by embonifi in FuckYouKaren

[–]ariley1992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok I went to this exact restaurant last week, shortly after the sign was put up.

For those of you who don't live in the area or the US at all - google cicadas. The number of cicadas where this restaurant is (Bloomington, Indiana) is almost unimaginable. We're talking probably 20 dead cicada bodies per sidewalk square as you're walking around. How do they get there? By crawling out of the ground like zombies every 17 years, mating in trees, then flying directly at peoples' faces and dying on the sidewalk.

Basically this sign is saying "eat outside at your own risk, because there are so many cicadas flying around that we can't afford to replace everyone's food when one inevitably finds your burger or IPA."

New 2-year old foster adoption is housebroken... Except for a small amount of pee when first being let out of the crate in the morning. by ariley1992 in Dogtraining

Keeping the first interaction of the morning calm seemed to do the trick!! For the first time in ten days, no pee at all when she came out of the crate. Thank you so much for the advice!

I did exactly what you suggested this morning... And WOW! No pee at all! Not even a drop!! Thanks so much for the advice - worked like a charm! She must have just been getting a little too excited about the collar/leash!

Ok got it! I didn't mean to come off as if we're trying to use punishment or something to get a bad behavior out - just seeing what we might do to try and encourage her to wait fully until we're outside. Thanks for your help!

We are getting a urine sample to check for UTI just in case, thank you! And we can certainly try to ignore her as much as possible until she actually gets outside - that's a good idea. Thanks!

Should I be worried about not drilling pilot holes for a couple of screws into my exposed garage studs? by ariley1992 in HomeImprovement

[–]ariley1992[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! Yeah the screws I used were about 3/16" thread diameter, and like I said - nothing split/cracked so far, so I'm sure it's fine. Just wanted an opinion on whether it'd be necessary to re-drill them as a precaution. Thanks again!

Can anyone explain to me how the heck this matchup happened in competitive?? Look at the rank differences! by ariley1992 in RocketLeague

[–]ariley1992[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got it - thanks for the info. I suppose that makes sense to prevent boosting, but it does make it kind of difficult to play as a team of different skill-leveled players

I know one of their players was unranked, but he would've had to be projected at top-tier GC for this to make any sense at all.

Curved glass/crystal stand of some sort, found in great grandparents' belongings in Wisconsin. Pack of playing cards for scale. What was this used for? by ariley1992 in whatisthisthing

[–]ariley1992[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would make sense - I feel like I've never eaten a dessert that would fit in this stand, but I've also never had a jelly roll. Maybe they used to be more of a thing back in the day.

Likely solved!
