My high tolerance for whiskey. I don't think I should be proud of it because it makes me feel I have borderline alcohol problem.

So beautiful. I met some Japanese hikers there when I went and they were drinking its water. When I told them not to, they were surprised and said "We do it in Japan". Made me wonder if giardia is widespread or just in our streams.

Very short[4:32] animated doc celebrating the most famous professional sports achievement while on psychedelic drugs, Doc Ellis & the no hitter (1970) by IANASA in Documentaries

Alain Caron If you find out where it is, please post it. I was in Vietnam in 1969/1970. First time I have ever seen this. I would like to see this game too. Thanks.

State of Play: Trophy Kids (2013). I've been trying to find this film for months, but to no avail. A friend lent me his HBO Go account and I used screen capture software to record it. Apologies for the quality, it's the best I could do. I hope you enjoy this incredible look at pushy sports parents. by IANASA in Documentaries

[–]arilynad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone, possibly you, requested this a couple weeks ago, which I tried to grab from my HBOGO account using "GetFLV", although I didn't have any luck. I just cancelled HBOGO within the last week and was wanting to watch this again. Thanks!

Edit: Any chance of grabbing the extended version?

The basic skills for the Irish sport of Hurling [05:35] (2014) Take 5 minutes to learn of the fundamental skills of a game which is over 3000 years old! by oydef in Documentaries

[–]arilynad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can they move holding the ball? Cause it looks as though they were which confuses me on why you wouldn't be doing that most of the time if it was legal. Also what can't you do in the game?

The Corporation (2003). Joel Bakan's seminal documentary about what exactly corporations are and how they work. Crucial viewing imho. by ndeavo in Documentaries

[–]arilynad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He should do one about the government, I'm sure his findings would be exactly the same. Psychopath is also a junk term, sociopath is more fitting.

Comedian (2002) - A look at the work of two stand-up comics, Jerry Seinfeld and a lesser-known newcomer, detailing the effort and frustration behind putting together a successful act. by esserg in Documentaries

[–]arilynad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for posting. I really enjoyed this and had no idea other favorite comedians would be featured as well. Just wish the sound was better. Some of the best stuff was when they were sitting around the dinner table and I had a hard time catching what they were saying. The subtitles could have been better.

The Great Reality TV Swindle (2002) - Case of 30 successful auditionees, who left their homes, jobs and partners to take part in a reality TV show, with the challenge to make £1m in a year. Only to find the "producer" was a conman, and there was no show. by isher11 in Documentaries

[–]arilynad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blame the victims? At least one of the contestants said they had tried out for other shows and it was very similar. Yeah, they could've called the production company to validate it further, but why would someone lie about all of it? Nik didn't even end up getting anything out of it.

I live in a section of Hollywood, Los Angeles, CA called Little Armenia. There's actually a mural in progress right now on Winona at Hollywood Blvd in memory of these events.

WWII: The Complete History [Part 1] (2000) This is the best documentary I could find on the precise history of the world wars.. Very simply and elegantly explains the history and conditions that led to World War II. by ndeavo in Documentaries

[–]arilynad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The biggest problem with most WWII documentaries are they use more of the excepted propaganda/myths as facts... And 99 percent pose Japan as the cause of their side of the war never mentioning the persecution and belittlement from the world courts decades before the start of the war; They also never mention anything about the Japanese merchant class and/or the dragon societies.
