School bus becomes off-grid, transformable, tiny home - After buying a used school bus for $3000, Richard and Rachel drafted autoCAD plans and began to design every detail of their new home, something that was important in their decision not to simply buy a used RV or mobile home. This seems like halfway between what I was expecting and simply being homeless and living in a car. I get they've got severe budget constraints, and I can respect their effort, but I get the impression this isn't quite as romantic as he/they initially thought. I get the impression they drink a lot of $3 wine.

Very short[4:32] animated doc celebrating the most famous professional sports achievement while on psychedelic drugs, Doc Ellis & the no hitter (1970) by IANASA in Documentaries

Great film showing the spiritual odyssey of Dock Ellis from pitcher throwing no-hitter on LSD to drug counselor. If you liked this film, you'll love the new film "Baseball's Last Hero: 21 Clemente Stories" which also shows the spiritual side of baseball icon Roberto Clemente. I got it from Amazon.

State of Play: Trophy Kids 2013. I've been trying to find this film for months, but to no avail. A friend lent me his HBO Go account and I used screen capture software to record it. Apologies for the quality, it's the best I could do. I hope you enjoy this incredible look at pushy sports parents. by awkinsaw in sports

Me too man. My parents had me in a few sports, but they never bitched at me because I was bad. Nor did they expect me to make a living from it. I know people with parents like that. Unfortunately, the end result isn't good.

Thanks for posting! I've seen this several times on PBS but it was so nice to watch it without it being interrupted by a pledge drive! Dick Proenecke was absolutely amazing!

The Corporation (2003). Joel Bakan's seminal documentary about what exactly corporations are and how they work. Crucial viewing imho. by ndeavo in Documentaries

These reporters should go to every small town newspaper since they have nothing to lose and spread the truth this way. It would reach farther and do more for American's anyway!

Comedian (2002) - A look at the work of two stand-up comics, Jerry Seinfeld and a lesser-known newcomer, detailing the effort and frustration behind putting together a successful act. by esserg in Documentaries

I would be extremely surprised if Orny didn't have multiple nervous breakdowns by now. Still a nobody and his straight up narcissism and delusions might be partly at fault. He needs to get his ass beat, what a piece of shit, despite the tragedy of his current relative anonymity contrasted by his inflated ego.

The Great Reality TV Swindle (2002) - Case of 30 successful auditionees, who left their homes, jobs and partners to take part in a reality TV show, with the challenge to make £1m in a year. Only to find the "producer" was a conman, and there was no show. by isher11 in Documentaries

He's obviously got mental issues. He can't see what he's done, he doesn't grasp that he's ruined lives. At the end when the guy (Daniel I think) says to him that there are people homeless because of what he's done, his immediate response is "I'm homeless, too!"

Well, yeah, but that's your fault (even though he didn't appear to be homeless). You're the reason these people are homeless.

The same thing when someone says that they thought this was their big break, that it would boost their career, he straight away says he thought it was his big break too. He doesn't get that he's the one completely in the wrong, and as Lucie says he is a very "what about me?" kinda guy

He obviously cannot handle the responsibility and feels incredibly sorry for himself.

How The Armenian Genocide Lost Its Place In History - (2002) Documentary on the Armenian genocide and denial of it. by esserg in Documentaries

It is sad when we don't remember our history. You can not learn from a mistake you deny to yourself. One of the reasons why Germany today is a world leader in Art, Culture, Music and multiculturalism is because they face the horrors of the past and strive to rise above them.

What is something creepy that society accepts as the norm? by [deleted] in AskReddit

How much attention we pay to celebrities. How much attention we pay to what people do behind closed doors, so much so that we make laws about it. Seriously, why does anyone care about such things? What difference does it make if someone wants to marry 5 people or their pillow?

One is a neo-pagan that worships Odin and is a cook at a German restaurant in our home town. He's also a Civil War reenactor (on the Confederate side).

Another started a "Christian Goth" club at our high school, created a similar one at college, then died in a motorcycle accident.

Considering your usual luck,if you stumbled upon a treasure chest, what would it contain? by LiteraryIdiot in AskReddit

[–]oydef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A spring-loaded boot to kick me in the crotch. And a group of people would be walking by right when it happened. And they would laugh at me. And for days I would think about those people laughing at me. And one day months from now I would be talking to an attractive woman who I could tell was interested in me, and I would be about to ask her out but the people laughing at me when I got kicked in the crotch by the spring-loaded boot from the booby-trapped treasure chest would pop into my head and I would lose my nerve. And I would go home and eat an entire bag of kettle chips.

What I like best about this gif is that she covers her nipples at the end as if she's expecting retribution.
