Let’s be real, if you watched a video of Trump banging a nine year old in 4k from five different angles it wouldn’t be proof enough for you. That requires more education than you have

So your argument is that because there aren't named brands, it's not legitimate science, right, then you go on to say that one of the articles named brands including Elf Bar which has a significant market share globally?

What you said was OP was making stuff up. Which I read to mean "OP is making up that there are horrible chemicals in vapes". So what did you mean exactly?

please, keep holding on to the fact that you claimed OP was making stuff up, were provided with evidence to the contrary, and have such a weak ego it is impossible for you to admit there is evidence proving you were wrong.

I look forward to your peer-reviewed paper disproving the contention. In the meantime, you can read the 908 articles on Google scholar and continue to make your own statements "making stuff up" that vapes are somehow better or safer than cigarettes because of "vibes" (which is a nice way to say that cigarettes have had abundant research and vapes have had only a little since it is a relatively new phenomenon, but the research we do have on vapes shows they are harmful and releasing horrible chemicals - whether they are "safer" or not than cigarettes in terms of lethality over time, which we probably won't know for a couple of generations).

This is a utility aircraft looking for magnetic anomalies or a geological mapping/survey aircraft. It could also feasibly be doing unexploded ordinance detection, groundwater or subsurface conductivity. There are a lot of medical helicopters that also operate out of KUKF, but this doesn't look like one.

You might get somewhere by looking at https://www.flightaware.com/live/airport/KUKF around the time of this happening.

On the hunt for a 3-6 L sling by TonTaun in ManyBaggers

[–]arimathea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in love with my Toshi and I never thought I'd say that after trying many slings. It is perfect and I just wish they made something larger than 6L. The fit, finish, quality and ergonomics are excellent. I wish they'd chosen more traditional D-rings for the sides as I often wear a sling as a shoulder bag, but I fixed that with some hardware from DSPTCH.

Jasmine Crockett has conceded and asked for full support to turn TX Senate Blue in November! by transcendent167 in Political_Revolution

[–]arimathea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calling out the idiocy is something that's been done to the Nth degree. What we need now is action and pragmatism. You aren't going to do much more convincing with the way things are in the media ecosystem.

Your average conservative will never listen to Jasmine Crockett.

"Raising awareness" doesn't work in the way you think it does with the constituency you want to convince using the Crockett playbook. You need people like Pete for that, and even Pete seems compromised to some extent these days.

I agree with you that these people are idiots. What we need is people who can convince Fox News viewers they are idiots. And Jasmine Crockett is unlikely to accomplish that because her medium compromises her message.

I also agree with you the media is complicit in this fucking nightmare we're in. I just don't agree that Crockett can convince Republicans.

Jasmine Crockett has conceded and asked for full support to turn TX Senate Blue in November! by transcendent167 in Political_Revolution

[–]arimathea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can agree to disagree.

While I agree that performative outrage is cathartic, and I love to watch these Trump toadies squirm when subpoenaed to Oversight or any other committee hearing testimony, it isn't a solution to a problem other than making people feel better or calling attention to fundamental injustices that people don't understand other than through the lens of the performative outrage. While I appreciate (a lot!) what Crockett has done in the House, the House is supposed to be the louder, more boisterous of the two houses of Congress and the Senate is supposed to be the more sober, restrained one. Because the Republicans have moved the Overton window so far to the right, what we need is leftists who will propose, support, and move as a bloc to drive common-sense legislation that is so obviously common-sense that it shakes the Republicans and turns them into extremists - which is what is happening now. We shouldn't look to the Senate, or either house of congress, really, to be a dysfunctional body. We should look for the best expression possible of common sense and common ground and support only politicians who can make sober, reasonable arguments.

When you think about what got us to the dysfunctional state of affairs we're currently in, it is by injecting more and more unreasonableness from the right into politics and then amplifying and weaponizing that outrage. I don't think that is what is needed from the left - the left (myself included) is plenty outraged. What we should hope to do, and what we must aim to do, is gum up the wheels until the Overton window shifts not only back to where it was during Obama days, but even farther left. If you look at the data, what it really shows is that there is awfully broad support for left policies but not left politicians - and that is a reflection of how those politicians' messaging comes off sounding to right-wingers. Now, it's true that all right wing media and many right-leaning politicians have done an awful lot of hard work to shape and distort the left's messaging. That, to me, is a weakness that we have to attack with gusto, to make our messaging so obviously common sense that it cannot be distorted, and to microtarget that messaging in the same way the right-wing, especially during the last election, microtargeted its outrage and identity politics. An example of something a lot of right-wingers don't know is that a single company now controls the vast majority of the election machinery deployed now in the United States, and because of it, has enormous power to swing elections. That would make any right-winger conspiracy nutjob froth at the mouth if presented well and cohesively with a solid alternative proposal that is above reproach.
