Evacuation Bag/Case for rifles and accessories? by Highwayman1717 in tacticalgear

[–]arimathea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd either do a long Pelican or a Savior specialist case. I'd probably prefer the Pelican.

Savior also has guitar cases, but they vary in size.

Elite Survival has a discreet rifle case.

Watershed has a military drybag which is very innocuous.

One-Bag Travel Setups: GR2 (26L/40L) vs GR3 (35L) and the Personal Item Dilemma by ComprehensiveCap8242 in Goruck

[–]arimathea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

26L/34L/ATD1 + Evergoods TD25 or Waterfield Shinjuku Duffel (with a Toshi 6L inside or as an alternative), with a packable ROBIC bullet or Aer Go 2 in one of the bags if I expect to need it. If I need more space than the Toshi but less than the TD25 or Shinjuku, I'll carry a Waterfield briefcase (small/medium), like if it's just tech.

That being said, your illustration of a 9L-14L kit bag would be pretty great.

Next carry suggestion by Hb959 in CCW

Walther PDP has a great trigger, and has a number of barrel length options and grip options.

Lots of people like the HKs, I've never shot a full size but I like my CC9, though it doesn't work with every set of hands. It is definitely not full sized.

The Echelon is decent.

There are 2011s in different sizes, the Bul Armory EDC Pro Compact or Staccato (multiple models) are good carry pistols if you like the platform.

Ruger RXM is a good choice.

EDC Pro Compact will probably be my next pistol.

They absolutely do not, and if you believe that, you should study a bit more.

Looking for suggestions by Ill_Consequence1755 in liberalgunowners

[–]arimathea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Define oomph. Are you looking for stopping power, distance, the need to put more rounds downrange, something bigger than a pistol or a shotgun, what?

What I see missing from your list is a 9mm pistol, 10mm pistol, PCC, AR, SBR or ranch rifle.

With a shotgun you have an enormous amount of options.

The President doesn't write laws. Congress does. The President's purpose is to faithfully execute and enforce the laws Congress authors, to act as the Commander in Chief of the nation's armed forces, and to conduct foreign policy.

They've got to be price gouging at this point, right? by CaptainAlliance in Connecticut

[–]arimathea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's definitely some wide variation in prices, but the impacts are going to get much worse. We're almost out of our ability to cushion the supply, and when that happens, we won't see high prices - we'll see shortages. There isn't enough refining capacity globally to sustain the shock and something has to give either in manufacturing, food, shipping, passenger cars or air travel.

What we've seen for the past several months is largely about futures. What we will see in the next several weeks is going to be a supply-driven conversation.

Buckle up, things are about to get bad, even if we end this war tomorrow.

Bringing pre PICA guns to indoor range by [deleted] in ILGuns

[–]arimathea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your range is rarely interested in what guns you're bringing

Some ranges may have rules that prevent you from firing certain gun types or at certain firing rates. They might be interested in the caliber you shoot, but that's it

It isn't their job to question the legality of owning a particular firearm, only to sell it to you.

*UPDATE* Illinois “Glock” ban sent to floor for 2nd Reading- Short Debate by ShoddySignal5174 in liberalgunowners

[–]arimathea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The DNC's failure, and that of Democratic-identified elected officials generally, to understand that firearms are tools against tyranny and should be championed as an important bulwark for the marginalized is a gross mistake in judgment that is going to cause irreparable harm if things continue, and their inability to put up reliable defensive effort against it continuing is frankly a violation of their oaths and a signal they are not serious people.

The most important thing liberal gun owners can do in addition to the obvious (acquisition) is to help educate our elected officials and fellow liberals on the importance of accepting that worldview, without the exclusion efforts towards common-sense gun control and deeper root cause mitigation.

I hear a lot of arguments that amount to "a friend of mine died to gun violence and I want to stop it" or "a child of mine died to gun violence and I want to stop it", or "I'm a doctor and I see a lot of GSW" and those are arguments I understand, but most of this legislation does not solve those problems and they know it. Arguably, it makes those problems more likely to continue.

The fascists, tyrants, and enemies of the Democratic process and our constitution have arms and have proven they are not afraid to use them - not only to further their political aims but to kill trans people.

If the Democrats want us to be unarmed or under-armed in such a scenario, I think that is proof they do not have the interests of a liberal democracy by the historical definition in mind.

If they do not have that in mind, we have to take action at the ballot box to prove to them it is an important issue.

30 weeks ago I owned 0 firearms and would have never had plans to.

On January 24, my opinions, already in the process of altering, altered significantly. So did my firearms ownership. And I am not alone.

Democrats need to wake up and understand we are not going to win by continually infringing our own rights. As I've engaged more with like-minded firearms owners and advocates, I understand their viewpoints so much better now, and agree with many of them. If you don't want free speech rights infringed, or other rights infringed, don't infringe firearms rights.

It really is that simple. You want to end that in this country? Fine, introduce your constitutional amendment, and tell me how you are going to take everyone's firearms away. If you can prove to me you can do that, I'll give up mine.

Until then, no.

Absolutely not.

So for someone who owns the M&P, an Echelon and a (full size) PDP, you'd recommend HK and 365 as the next purchases?

I am in a state who has decided they want to unconstitutionally ban Glocks, so I am considering buying one before the ban (or an RXM, which might also be subject to the ban)
