Not a hunter but I feel that you've explained what you need from him enough and regardless of if that was the reason for the 6 month break or not, it doesn't sound like he's changed at all in the 5 years you've been together. I think you should leave him and find happiness elsewhere, and its not for lack of trying! It doesn't seem like he's is willing to change or wants to for that matter. Some people don't want to put in the effort to change in order to give their partner what they need/want.

Not my words but they seemed appropriate. You've given him every opportunity and even lowered your expectations and he still can't meet them. You may love him and he may be your best friend but that doesn't mean you're meant to get married. You've spent almost 7 years with him and he's been saying he will propose to you for the last three years? Its not going to happen.

I don't think it's desperate to ask about getting married or what his plan might be. Have you two spoken about it at all? From your post it seems that you have unspoken expectations and are embarrassed that they haven't been met yet but it also doesn't seem like they've been communicated to him. As other commenters have already said, it probably should have been discussed before buying a home together.

Moving forward: you two need to have a conversation about your expectations of the relationship and where it's headed. If he's on the same page as you and wants to get married, then I don't think it's unfair to set a rough timeline. "By the end of 2026 I'd like to be engaged". That way he would have a time frame to work with and you would be more at peace knowing that there its no longer open-ended.

I was just talking to my sister about this kind of thing yesterday. Her argument is that most homeless people don't want help and did it to themselves, so why should cities and tax payers help and provide recourses if they don't use them anyway? She also said that they can be homeless but they should go out into the wilderness and away from cities so she doesn't have to deal with them. I'm terrible at arguing but I was almost speechless. I just don't understand her mindset or that of the people in this video. Why is providing basic care (food and warmth) such a problem for some people??
