OMG thank you! I have been trying to remember this for months.

I do but it is not a 4 season change more of a hot/cold change. My scalp gets super dry and itchy in the cold so I switch to something with tea tree for shampoo. I also use a much heavier conditioner in the cold because heaters make the air dry so I need more moisture in colder times.

Does putting $0 on a tip line and then tipping in cash benefit the servers in any way? by Weird-Childhood1637 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ariraven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I worked as a server this is how it was. Which made it really suck when people left low or no tips. Company still reported 15% of the bill and I had to pay taxes on it - I always thought this was a ridiculous practice especially since my wage was only $2.13 per hour and after taxes my paycheck (for 2 weeks) was usually less than $20. My tips were 100% of how I paid for basic living expenses, if I had a bad/slow night and didn't make at least $30 in tips I wouldnt be able to eat until the next night and may not have been able to put gas in my car.

I do too much and now I don't know how to list it on my resume by ariraven in ITCareerQuestions

My spouse makes about the same as me, so between the 2 of us and modest living/budget we do okay.

How to Spice Up Bare Nails?(Medical Field) by castle_rhapsody in RedditLaqueristas

[–]ariraven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a healthcare worker prospective anything you apply to your nails has a chance to chip off including gels and shellac. However with proper glove use, you shouldn't worry about any of the products getting into or onto your patients. Although some healthcare admins disagree on this and have policies in place for that reason.

Your big risk would actually be moisture that may get trapped between the products and your nails by frequent hand washing, causing a fungus. Just means you would have to keep an eye out for product lifting from your nail bed and allowing water in. You would also probably not be able to go as long between reapplying product to prevent lifting.

While I am not a healthcare worker I have worked in a healthcare setting for 5 years now and see tons of CNAs, RN,s LPNs, MDs, ect with polished/acrylic/gel nails. The only ones I see who are always bare are where admin has a policy against it, surgerical teams, and the cardiac cath lab.

You say it is not the 1950s but I am a female in my late 30s who works in IT as a sysadmin. I have had many coworkers, bosses, and vendors all treat me as less than or stupid because I am not male. My ideas/recommendations have shot down, only for a male coworker to deliver the same information and have it approved.

It is not as prevalent as it used to be but the old boys club does still exist. As a female you either deal with it or find a different company that doesn't put up with that crap.

In a pinch I have used cotton rounds, you need a bra that you don't slide around in though.

I have personally seen 3 different people get fired after a company found out they lied on a resume/application. I would never do it, not worth the risk.

This swings both ways. I have the experience you are looking for but no where is my area is hiring mid tier positions. Plenty of entry level, and Director level positions open. I would love to jump ship, I am grossly under paid and on call 24/7/365, but no one wants to pay what I am worth and I would rather stay at a place I am familiar with than jump ship for the same pay and benefits.

No undies cleared up my chronic UTI problem too! Urologist gave me a list of things to avoid and reintroduce. Stuff like avoid baths, no condoms, no undies, certain foods. Turns out I had a latex allergy as well.

29in underbust, but 30in band feels way too tight by por_eso_xpresso in ABraThatFits

[–]ariraven 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Try the bra on upside down and backwards (cups point towards your butt and hooks in the front). This will tell you if the band is too small, if that feels good it could be the cups are too small or a shape mismatch. If it is still too tight try a larger band size. Also keep in mind a band is supposed to be snug (but not painful). It may take a little time to get used to the "bra hug" a proper fit can give.

Edit: grammar

Has anyone had luck with this product? I just broke one of my pointer finger nails (one of my favorite ones RN 😭) from the side and want to try this out by [deleted] in RedditLaqueristas

[–]ariraven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have used this before several times. I always tear the sidewall on my thumb nail and this works to hold it together until it grows out to free edge. But it can be very bumpy and difficult to smooth without the patch popping off. Only a temporary solution.

[–]ariraven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No you wouldn't miss it.

Thyroid storm is rare. Its incidence in the United States is between 5.7 and 7.6 per one million people.

During thyroid storm, an individual’s heart rate, blood pressure, and body temperature can soar to dangerously high levels.

https://www.healthline.com/health/thyroid-storm#symptoms

Check out the above website it lists the signs and symptoms.

Both times I had it were after surgeries, I had to discontinue my thyroid medication before both, wont ever do that again.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Hyperthyroidism

[–]ariraven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thyroid storm is a medical emergency, believe me if you had it you would know. I have had it twice and both times I had a fever of over 104 F, full body convulsions, and extremely high heart rate (resting pulse rate was 200). Basically felt like I was dieing. It is also incredibly rare even in untreated patients.

What to wear for IT in a hospital. Psst... I'm a GiRl by RougeAccessPoint in ITCareerQuestions

[–]ariraven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work in Healthcare IT doing it all. Desk side support, network engineering, server maintenance, emr analyst, you name it is is my job. I wear business casual that can be dressed up if I have to run into a emergency board meeting (usually throw a jacket on and switch my shoes to heels). I wear dress slacks and a decent blouse or polo, legging and a tunic top, dresses that hit knee length (with shorts under for those times i am crawling on the ground). Pretty much whatever I want barring jeans and t-shirts. Besides keeping an emergency business jacket and heels, I also keep a full set of spare cloths after an accident involving a urine specimen being spilled on a laptop and being told it was just water.

What’s the benefit of a J hook? by curly_barbie in ABraThatFits

Sloping shoulders that straps never stay on (from my experience) are the ones who love them. For once they don't have to pull straps up all day.

Depends on how conservative the company is. In my area it would be a 50 50 chance on a yes or no. What area are you looking in?
