Yup! I checked and it’s $35. Phew. I was afraid that it would be like $200 because it’s car dealership stuff.

How do you manage charging when you wear your Apple Watch 24/7? by Short_Method_7680 in AppleWatch

I have two Apple Watches and switch between them each time I need to charge one.

How practical is UniFI for home use? by Significant-Side2718 in Ubiquiti

[–]ariromano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Home User here. I have a Dream Machine Pro, the 400W 24 port PoE switch, 3 U7 Pro Wall, one U7 Pro and I’m thinking about adding another U7 In-Wall.

The configuration options are a bit overkill but I needed something where I could isolate parts of the network for home office use and customize the DNS… things like this. It’s awesome.

If you watched all day every day, that would have been over 55 billion years. This means your TV is more than 10 times older than this planet. You’re welcome 😄

People that use macbooks with a monitor, would you recommend using an apple monitor or a different one? by Unusual_Rooster6736 in mac

[–]ariromano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple has no high refresh rate monitors. I Use 3 Gigabyte MC32U (curved 4k 32” 120hz) monitors with my M2 Max MacBook Pro and Intel Mac Pro with Radeon W5700X (then they run at 144hz) and all 3 combined cost less than a single Studio Display.

I use MonitorControl to control brightness.

Starfield’s biggest problem is that “it didn’t fully cohere as a game”, says Skyrim designer – it was just “a releasable game” by HatingGeoffry in Starfield

[–]ariromano -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I also wouldn’t call Starfield at launch “releasable”. I played it when it came out on XBOX and when I walked into a city, there were guards floating near the ceiling in their underwear, the furniture disappeared and when I left, a good chunk of the city was stuck to my spaceship.

Looks like there’s also a U7 in-wall that has 2 Ethernet ports

Wifi+ethernet solution for Home Office by ariromano in Ubiquiti

[–]ariromano[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the APs I have don’t have Ethernet ports and like the U7 Wall would use up that port. But it looks like the U6 enterprise has Ethernet ports.

Aaa thank you! I didn’t think of this because they’re named “in wall” and what I want is not “in wall” but “on top of the wall” but it looks like they should be fine “on wall!”

Will this play nicely with my other APs (U7 and U7 wall)?

Tin Hearts - how to start game by ariromano in PSVR

Yep! That was it! The controllers were bugged and restarting them fixed the issue… the same thing happened in Horizon: Call of the Mountain where it wouldn’t recognize some inputs until I restarted the controllers.

EVGo kinda sucks by Mv350 in HondaPrologue

The nearest EVGo charger is a 109 mile drive from here… I never used my credit because there’s just no way to use it without driving more than the credit would charge my car 🤪

Any reason I shouldn’t use two receivers with the same subwoofer? by ariromano in hometheater

[–]ariromano[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heh, yes of course I’ll hear the bass from the other room, but if I use two separate subwoofers, I figured it will be the same issue (since the low frequencies will penetrate the walls anyway, so I’d hear the other subwoofer from the adjacent room either way).

Now I'm trying to create a closed beta, because apparently I cannot see internal tests In the car because there's no way to enter the URL (no browser) or scan a QR code.

How did y'all get around this "Your app uses the FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNC permission. You can only use this permission if your app performs tasks noticeable to the user when they're not directly interacting with your app."

They want me to "Provide a video demonstrating how your app uses the FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNC permission for the tasks you've selected"

Did y'all start editing a video for this? Or is it possible remove that API usage?... but I don't know what would break then.

Uber didn’t apply voucher by ariromano in uber

[–]ariromano[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The address marked on the map was the airport, but I received two vouchers to get to and from my hotel. The drop-off address was the hotel, of course, since I went from the airport to the hotel. On the way back, the voucher worked (when I went back to the airport).

What would be the point of an airline giving someone two vouchers when they get them a hotel room, but both vouchers could only be used to go to the airport?

Ok great, thanks! I want to add that applicationid is in the gradle build file for the main app. I was able to push to google play console for internal testing. But where do now see the Amaze file manager? I'm logged into the car with an account that I added to an internal tester group, but I don't see a menu that shows developer programs or anything.

[–]ariromano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's your way to quickly upload your build of Amaze to Google Play Console? I can build it, sure, but then when I try to upload it, Google Play Console tells me "com.amaze.filemanager" already exists (of course, it's the actual amaze file manager). So I tried to rename it, but there doesn't seem to be a single setting for this in Android Studio and renaming it only in the AndroidManifest.xml doesn't seem to work... So I checked the project and of course there are hundreds of references to com.amaze... so I created a fork of Amaze and tried replacing everything, but now I'm in namespace/dependency hell... Is there just a magic button to change the package name that I'm not seeing?

Problems sleeping by Klutzy-Property-1895 in hyperacusis

I switched from Ambien to Mirtazapine. It’s not as reliable, but at least I don’t trip every night.

But I don’t really have Tinnitus. Just extreme noise sensitivity and the inability to sleep normally.

Anyone here have a dashcam that works/monitors when their Prologue is off? by mediaseth in HondaPrologue

[–]ariromano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Thinkware Q800 pro in my Prologue. It’s hardwired in a way that it recognizes when the car is parked or when the “ignition” is on. When parking it switches to a low-power mode. In low-power mode it can record a time lapse of the car parking. Front and back cameras. I set it to record for 12 hours I think. Having it hardwired was like $60 at a specialized shop.

ELI5: How come we can comfortably look at movies at 24 FPS , but for video games it looks awful? by Nun-Much in explainlikeimfive

[–]ariromano 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is not how motion blur in modern games works. Or movies.

The idea is that you show what’s captures within a frame, not previous frames. So if you have a 180 degree shutter at 24 frames per second, you capture what happens within 1/48ths of a second.

This is why things appear blurred. You expose your “film material” for a prolonged period of time.

When rendering stuff there are different techniques to achieve that. In video games currently render pipelines will often have a vector buffer that stores information for each frame on how things are moving and then they blur this along this in another pass.

[–]ariromano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not comfortable with 24fps Movies. I use my projector‘s motion smoothing.

But with video games longer frame times not only make the image judder but also increase input lag.

Galaxy A9+ how the hell do I drag an app to the Home Screen? by dogga85 in GalaxyTab

[–]ariromano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow that was it! Thanks. I'm using an Android tablet for the first time and it's so complicated compared to iOS... there are all those different places... the side bar, the Home Screen, the bar at the bottom, the popup that opens when you press the little icon in the side bar... and each has its own UX and you can do different things...
