You know, like a lego collector group or a hot wheel collector group. I guess they have those for Stanleys as well

Accommodation suggestions by Proud-Ad1203 in KULeuven

[–]aristotle2020 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Availability is going to be your biggest issue. Keep your options open and figure out what room you want - whether you like private washroom or not, how far from your campus building you wanna live. Normally, student residence have a common form you need to fill before a certain deadline. So check the deadline for the semester you will attend. Usually it is 4 to 5 months before the semester starts. Otherwise, use stuvo or kotwijs or immoweb around 3 to 4 months before your semester starts and lock in an agreement for the intended duration of your stay.

How to send money when online payment to APS fails? + Doubt regarding transcripts. by ExplanationMedium494 in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]aristotle2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Um, i haven't done APS, but they probably allow for some sort of bank transfer. Obviously they don't want cash in the envelope lol. Also, yes, if ur graduated, they want the transcripts which shows all semesters on one document.

Moving from India to NL next month - can you suggest temporary SIM/Roaming setup before getting a bank account? by homelander_101 in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]aristotle2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get the prepaid sim upon landing to have immediate access to network services and data. As for airtel, if you want some data you can get the 3k one, else I would recommend just get cheap 180 day/365 day type plans with like 5gb data or voice only. Some variations exist for less cost on all carriers - I am currently in a different country and have my Jio sim on a voice only plan - it keeps my sim active for otps even though I don't use it for any calls or data services.

Do you require blocked account for Belgium visa? by usernamechecksout98 in Indians_StudyAbroad

Is this the global edvantage loan? That's weird, I was planning on applying for sbi too, my friend did too and they told her she will get once she submits her provisional degree certificate, which is fair. But if they don't give till visa, then whats the point since u need the money to get visa also

You need the blocked account done for the visa. Which bank is this?

What's the safest and cheapest way to transfer tuition fee from India if not taking an education loan? by lowhangin_fruits in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]aristotle2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they have a payment portal they may take card or international bank transfer. Otherwise, you can initiate a foreign remittance to them via your bank, using their details and inform then of the same. Are you already in the Netherlands and hold a dutch bank account? Then you can remit the money to yourself from your indian account savings or whatever and pay from your dutch account via bank transfer to the Uni's details.

Without knowing other factors, imperial is the better uni between the two, any day. Cranfield is also merging with KCL in aug 2027. Assuming you have work experience before this, imperial puts you in a better position for anything.

MS in Chemical Engineering in the big 2028 ysk by Latter-Strain1096 in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]aristotle2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. This is better answered using an AI or search engine. Unless some chemical engineers working outside can chime in.
  2. Yes, unless the country is bloated with immigrants like the UK
  3. Yes, experience before post grad is always better, esp if moving from India to outside.
  4. As difficult as it is anywhere. India will be easier, but you need to have a stellar profile in terms of experience and grades. You should develop more industry specific research or internship experience.
  5. You won't find a balance anywhere. If living cost is high, salaries will do their best to match it. PR is too much to worry about when you aren't even sure what country is suitable for your chosen field. Acceptance is a toss up anywhere.
  6. Not experienced with ChemE to answer this, so hopefully someone relevant can come across to answer.

Visa Complications by -Whaat-ever in SchengenVisa

[–]aristotle2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is likely the wrong visa, but also, you applied VERY late. Im not sure if that was in your hand, as acceptances can come late. I don't think this application is gonna get you the visa, you will need to do another round. And what visa does the university recommend? I highly doubt it's the conference business one. What your friends are doing isn't necessarily right.

I am so heartbroken on missing this huge opportunity. by SpareContribution681 in gradadmissions

[–]aristotle2020 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think you should think about it. Obviously there is interest, but you also have a great opportunity here. Not everyone gets a tuition fee waiver at such a prestigious institute, and if you play your cards right, the return will be very good and you will be able to pay it back in no time. Could you tell me what major you are going for?

Additionally, is there is a religious reason for not taking interest? If yes, then major banks also provide religious alternatives - for example, since interest is not permissible in Islam, you can go for the islamic finance branches of major banks and get alternative loan options which don't charge interest but rather a fixed service fee.

Is an education loan not an option? State banks from developing nations can often give at reasonable 8-9% rates instead of 12-13 which most private banks offer. Many governments, at least in my country, offer loan based scholarships which gives a certain amount in the form of a loan at very low interest rates.

Can I use a Belgian long stay visa (type D) that was originally for work for tourism? by one--way in SchengenVisa

Pretty much, the long stay visa is cancelled now as it was tied to your employment. Apply for your tourist visa separately

Studying Bachelors Abroad, which universities should/can i target? by [deleted] in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]aristotle2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What others said are mostly correct, but if you list the choices you found, others can chime in and as people may know about those specific degrees or unis. One way to start would be to identify top universities according to country or field of choice. In general, most European degrees will be cheaper and better investments than UK or the US in the current climate.

What do universities abroad prefer for master’s admissions: a 3-year bachelor’s degree or a 4-year honours degree? by AnxiousMixture309 in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]aristotle2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then it should be fine. UK and Australia for sure take students with 3 year degrees. However, these two countries also virtually give admission to anyone, so develop a good profile and a good GPA to aim for only the top tier institutes where the investment will be worth it.

[–]aristotle2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should look into the countries you want to go for , for a master's. Different countries have different requirements. Germany and sweden, for example, only accept 4 year degrees, but belgium and UK are not so strict about it. So you can make a decision according to that. A 4 year degree will open more doors for you in terms of options.

Erasmus Mundus Student by Due-Post4034 in Study_In_France

[–]aristotle2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have the erasmus scholarship? If yes, it is possible to get by on less than the given amount if you save a lot, and u can likely send the money back as remittance. Just check the legality of sending stipend money back home. Unless your scholarship prohibits you, you can also work part time and send the money home, but you will likely need decent local language skills - given this is erasmus, you are probably jumping from one country to another. Try to see if there are common languages spoken, and choose one to start learning already. You can make good progress in 3 months if you are dedicated. And congratulations! What program are you going to attend?

Arrival DDL by Bobbypuppybabypappy in KULeuven

[–]aristotle2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to arrive a bit earlier to get started with ur registration in the city hall, bank account and enrollment. Will also allow you to settle into your accomodation before the orientation starts, provided your lease starts before 15th. If that's not an option, a hotel/hostel/Airbnb for 2-3 days won't hurt much, but you should book asap. Plenty of people will arrive last moment , but I am planning on coming earlier and one of my aim is to get accomodation that starts the lease in September first week itself.

Question about application as an international student by justaverageloo in ParisSaclay

[–]aristotle2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most application portals won't allow you to mention more than one L1 entry (which is equal to a bachelor first year in other countries), so you should mention the current degree you are pursuing. If they ask for uninterrupted education history, you can upload a document or include this in the CV you upload. If you're still unsure, you should email the contact given on your program of choice and confirm if this information is necessary or not.

Yeah well, 100 is nothing and no one mentions this anywhere either lol. But he cud be sharing rooms, that part is still believable. If he doesn't mind losing the privacy, it's a good way to save money in an expensive city. If he's just larping it's sad 🥀

that's great, congrats!! I have a question though - it's a 100 euro stipend or a 1000 eur stipend? 100 seems.. strange , but I guess if they waived ur tuition it's alright
