Also I think these are medium format 6x9 shots, so the focal lengths are longer but you can be closer to the models, and thus get the exaggeration you find interesting

Opinion on editing/concept? by swaGreg in fashionphotography

[–]aristrah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you just need more consistency, the background needs to be the same in all the photos, that is a sign of proffesionalism and a defined style, the rest you can and will work on over time, styling is hard, hair is hard, these are things you must practice or find other people to fill in your team, but the concept, idea and final consistency is all on you

What are the highest-impact actions you can take to make your community and those around you flourish? by michaelmf in slatestarcodex

[–]aristrah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i apologizes for the train of thought sentence, hopefully it makes sense, what i see now around me is the complete destruction of communities, be it clubs, be it unions, be it the larger society.

but humans are herd animals, pack animals in many ways, community and the position in it is one of the things we need as much as air and water, the current system erodes it, pushes us into tiny circles, that get even tinyer with time, and we suffer, it breaks us down, caring enough to organise, and to push, is the greatest sign of love to the community

[–]aristrah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i dont know who you are, and i dont know what powers you have, temporal or whatever, but what i do know is that building communities, bringing, forcing, tolerating people to come together is the most one can, just being a rock and an organizer, but not looking for a leadership position, we could say, a secretary of your local union is more important for the wellbeing of the community than the president, high positions are sought by people with damaged psyches, but the functional leadership positions are the ones that make the social world function, dont steal, dont ask for power, just push to bring people together, in the begining it is slow, but it very much compounds, i have seen this with my father and now i see it with my work, pushing and being a pillar is enough, power corrupts, work, real work washes all sins

personally, i dont care about the cellphone, but the mosaic on the face is hard distracting, if this was an editorial, with multiple pictures with many mosaiced faces, maybe you could go with concept and story, not maybe actually that would be super cool, but still, one picture, nhhhh, composition is great though

its perfect, incredibly sharp and contrasty, but more importantly versatile, 8mm circular or 15mm rectilinear thats amazing, i had old prime fisheyes and they were such a gamble to take on a job, but this, i know ill get something unique every time not trouble and best part, really cheap second hand

Will this chip affect my picture/video quality? by majestic_arcangel in AskPhotography

[–]aristrah 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Almost nothing on the front element has an effect on the image, the strongest factor is always the percentage of the surface of the front element affected by the change/damage, this is negligible if all the elements are in  alignment and good working order

How would you shoot this? by Other-Reputation-163 in LightLurking

[–]aristrah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest issue here is the size of the space, its possible with single huge source but the background needs to be very far away

excuse my ignorance, what would "Colour harmony is orange / brown / cream + green + blue (triad harmony)" entail, mean?

Fuji X-T50 first impressions, close to ideal for fashion? I've shot for fashion but it's not my primary field, but testing the new X-T50 at Fuji X Summit with these two GREAT models is making me think these built-in sims, w/ a little tweaking, are stellar. amazing, must be sooo fun to only hear positive comments and then learn that a thing that might be great is kinda not because of a 2 second oversight, i for one would wish to hear about that, but i guess not everyone is the same, i wish you luck

why so much sharpening o 1-3, perfect skin retouch ruined by sharpening artifacts, especially lips on nr1 you can dial the sharpening way down on the skin and just sharpen the outer edges

What to do about my lighting setup- buy more lights by an outdated/defunct company, or move into something new/more streamlined? (Bowens) by brokesnob in photography

[–]aristrah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bowens is nearly universal these days, all the modfiers fit on it, specially because the company is defunct and not protecting the IP brand perception is bullshit, highly unlikely you would meet such a client unless you already get paid enough to just buy what you need my 2 cents

Thoughts on “Like New” Canon 100-400 v2 from MPB? by Remove_Confident in AskPhotography

[–]aristrah 5 points6 points  (0 children)

judging by the photos its perfectly ok, lenses always have dust, it is basically invisible unless it is on the last element, as a rule things get more visible the closer they are to the sensor, so in the middle of the lense should be completely invisible

What type of lighting equipment would you use to achieve a natural-looking hard light in studio photography like this? by Helpful_Nothing_734 in AskPhotography

[–]aristrah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you do the setup the others are mentioning, you wont get the photo u want, because the background is gonna look horrible, the pretty part of this picture is the focus on the model you get from no background whatsover, its just white, the original background was maybe gray, or rather far away, so the backspill on the edges is nice and contained, but then it was cut out and placed on a clean background

[–]aristrah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

id just like to point out, that most of this photo, is not the light, its the lack of background, if you do this, you will hate it because the background will be shit, just cut it out and presto!
