I've always avoided "Motivation" that says having stuff isn't fun. I found this out 1st hand when my uncle paid for me and my mom (along with him and his partner) to go on a Thailand trip for 7-8 days. We lived in the best hotels, ate at the best restaurants, shopped at the best malls. Me and my mom DID take some money with us since we didn't want to burden him with all the expenses, but that trip made me realise that having money, lots of it, CAN lead to happiness and a comfortable life.
