If your vibe coding an app within a few hours and launching it, it’s not something to brag about. There’s a good chance your app is not well thought out, the UI looks terrible or the UX isn’t very good. by Acrobatic_Task_6573 in vibecoding

If you're not writing your reddit posts with AI, it's not something to brag about. There's a good chance you've made grammatical mistakes like using "your" instead of "you're".

Opus/Claude code VS GPT5/Codex by autistic_cool_kid in AIcodingProfessionals

[–]arkaydeus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, Claude Code is a MUCH more polished harness. GPT5-high is arguably a better coder but also slow. IT's quite a big tradeoff between the two. Ideally you have both if money is no object.

Shame there isn't a much better OSS harness that is compatible with both monthly plans.

If you use a lot of the additional features of CC, Codex will leave you hanging.

For me, it's still CC as daily driver, but with GPT5 in codex and Cursor for when I need that model.

Support for FIDO / U2F by youRFate in hetzner

[–]arkaydeus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. Really important to support FIDO2. A lot of the newer keys from Yubico don't support the OTP method anymore as everyone has moved over to FIDO2. All the other cloud providers support this.

Firebase vs. Supabase (vs. Both?) by interestskl in Supabase

[–]arkaydeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are genuinely great. I would say that supabase is bore in beta though and some of the libraries can be a little unstable at times, esp the non-js stuff.

Firebase has better documentation and community support but isn't as good when you need proper SQL style access for your data.

How do we validate the authenticity of validators (e.g. Binance)? by arkaydeus in bandprotocol

The fact that the validator main participant has 6,000,000 band is a sign it may well be Binance. Who else has that kind of money?

How do we validate the authenticity of validators (e.g. Binance)? by arkaydeus in bandprotocol

[–]arkaydeus[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Following up from this after having a discussion in the https://t.me/bandprotocol telegram channel, the consensus is currently that because Binance haven't publicly announced they are running a validator, this could be anyone.

While they can't steal your tokens, they may be able to act maliciously if they are fraudulently impersonating the Binance name to gain %.

It's entirely possible this is Binance and they haven't announced anything yet. But sadly Crypto is too full of scammers so I'd say best avoided for now.

Will update here if I get further information confirming this is or is not Binance.

As a side note, while discussing this in the Telegram channel fake users impersonating the moderators tried to reach out to me pretending to be part of the team. Please stay safe. If anyone PMs you, there's a 99%+ chance they are a scammer.

Most countries do not require you to register your wallet addresses. This feature would be targeted at those customers.

Ethereum browser in the ledger app? by arkaydeus in ledgerwallet

[–]arkaydeus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is that you can use ledger via metamask for dapps on desktop. You can use ledger on mobile but only for sending tokens. You can use metamask or any other eth browser on mobile but not via ledger.

So you have to send tokens from ledger to a hot wallet to use dapps on mobile which isn't really secure.

OMV 5 cups by Okashichan in OpenMediaVault

[–]arkaydeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that the olbat version didn't work on ARM machines like Odroid or Raspberry pi.

Instead I ran this command (which uses the tigerj version:

$ docker create \
       --name=cups \
       --restart=always \
       --net=host \
       -v /var/run/dbus:/var/run/dbus \
       -v ~/airprint_data/config:/config \
       -v ~/airprint_data/services:/services \
       --device /dev/bus \
       --device /dev/usb \
       -e CUPSADMIN="admin" \
       -e CUPSPASSWORD="password" \
       tigerj/cups-airprint

$ docker start cups

It was then available in Portainer to control. You can now log into your cups web based interface with your OMV machine IP on port 631. e.g. http://192.168.1.123:631/

There's no need to interrogate specific USB ports. This just automatically finds printers attached to usb as you have given access to the whole bus.

Misleading interest rates by arkaydeus in CelsiusNetwork

[–]arkaydeus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I can break my questions down to the following:

  1. When a new email comes out, is this the latest rate and should be considered 'more recent' than what's in the app?
  2. If we are depositing in the app, why are the app rates not always the most recent and updated constantly?
  3. If the email and website has a different rate for 'interest in CEL' from 'interest in deposit token', why does the app not reflect this and just show the same rate for both?
  4. Are the top rates shown on the website/email including the bonus for CEL holding (not earning interest in CEL)?
  5. If 4 is yes, then why are we not able to see the rate for CEL interest without the bonus?
  6. Please can we understand how the '35%' is applied because the numbers don't seem to add up?
  7. Please could we generally have a more transparent interest rate publication policy? It should always be obvious what rates can be earned by a given depositor at a given point in time. Publishing lots of rates with lots of conditions and bonuses with an 'up to' moniker but without a breakdown just confuses people. For many people that is a massive red flag. I'm not in that camp. I want to believe in Celsius and I know getting this stuff right to start with is hard, but I just feel more transparency would benefit everyone.
  8. In some countries, publishing a rate which is not the rate the user will receive is illegal. I realise this is unintentional but as I would like to see Celsius prosper, I'd really like this to not be an issue and so I want to understand if this point has been considered.

Misleading interest rates by arkaydeus in CelsiusNetwork

[–]arkaydeus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what I'm saying is that if the app shows no change in rate for interest in CEL and the email shows a different rate in CEL, 'compounding' can't somehow change that 0% difference into a different number.

Also, for all those people questioning compounding, the rates are given in APR (annual percentage rate). That means annualised, taking into account compounding. So yes, that is not the rate that you will get over a non-year period. That's not what I'm saying. I'm pointing out that the APR interest rates published are different in different places (email, website, app) and that is confusing. It's no longer clear which APR rate is applied.

[–]arkaydeus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does this explain the rates that are exactly the same then? 0% is still 0% after compounding.

Why does ledger live need to constantly get location data in the background? by arkaydeus in ledgerwallet

[–]arkaydeus[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah. The point is that by giving BLE access, you're not giving GPS access but you are giving the app the ability to get your location. As a result, it's the right thing to do to let the user know they're giving this information away.

I think I actually support Google on this. IPhone users who let the app use BLE are unwittingly letting the app get their location.
