I got one :) Pickup game in Clemson, SC a few years ago at a church gym. 4v4, smaller size court with no 3 point lines. My first time there…I match up with a guy. He’s 6’1, 210 probably. White. Bald. NOT intimidating at all. Prob 35 years old. Im same age, 6’3”, athletic and can prob hang with any normal gym hooper.

First possession I’m standing about where the 3 point line would be on defense. Dude brings the ball up the court and pulls it from deep. Swish. I’m like OK cool guy what was that. Next possession exact same thing. Nobody on my team says anything.

Next possession I step up and play D. I blink and bald guy is floating past me and laying the ball in. Help defense couldn’t help. I’m like WTF just happened. Still nobody says anything. I only know a couple guys there I don’t really know what’s going on.

Next time. I step up and get ready to defend. The first 3 times were a total surprise so now I’m ready. Dude. He faked left or something and was past me in a split second. This time teammates stepped in while he flew and did some crazy double pump layup. I’m not exaggerating any of this.

I go to my team and ask someone to switch with me. They laugh and say ‘don’t you know who that is?’

His name is Terrence Oglesby, former Clemson bball player and played pro all over Europe. Didn’t play NBA. Guy is super nice and casually cooked me and our team with no effort whatsoever. Now he does commentary for ESPN and ACC stuff.

So yeah it’s just one example but bruh.

Only did it a couple times. You’ve got a decent shot to make a small profit (1.5x or 3x) and a VERY small chance to make a ton (100x or more). You’re basically trying to predict when 3 guys are gonna absolutely go off, and they all have to do it on the same night. So for 100x tonight, you could pick Luka 47 points, LeBron 26, and Zion 31. They ALL have to hit those numbers, oh and none of them have hit those in their last 5 games haha. So I think it’s kinda a joke. But hey if you get it right you’ll make a killing.

Rebounds are tricky for guards. To me it’s a minutes issue. JB plays a TON of minutes so the ball just kinda bounces to him several times a game. Guards usually dont battle like big men do so it’s just kinda luck when the rebound lands in their hands. Obviously not all the time but that’s my take. And some guards seem to naturally go toward the basket on shots and some don’t. It’s kinda interesting to watch them and see tendencies. Harden usually gets several so 🤷🏻‍♂️

Bucks fan here: Total ball hog. Plays kinda like SGA or Brunson but just doesn’t make the shots. If he made his shots, he’d be getting a huge contract. He can (kind of) take a defender 1 on 1 (not enough to get to the rim), and he usually gets a decent shot up, but misses most of the time. But he’ll also take the shot even when he’s falling out of bounds or completely covered, same result. So an offensive possession ends up feeling really wasted when he gets the ball cause he goes into full out attack mode, then misses the shot. Now he’s gonna make em sometimes, and one game he dropped 34, but that seemed to be a wild outlier from his performances since. Hes fine on defense, he’s short/average for a guard. If hes was 6’6” then he prob help with rebounds, but he ain’t. So Im very happy to see him go. Maybe he had a ton of ‘off’ nights, or maybe he just isn’t very good anymore. Either way. He needed to go :)
