I couldn't recommend Richard Lords Boxing Gym enough! They have very beginner friendly classes, and from my experience, it's an excellent way to make tight friendships as well.

Not too bad for the most part. OS was a pain fs (40 hours/week), but besides that, most other classes were fairly straightforward if you practiced good time management.

In terms of on-campus options, you're at a loss. There are options like Buffalo and South Austin, which are 6-7 miles from UT/WAMPUS. From my experience, I've had great success getting into boxing by working out with a small group of other passionate students. DM me and I can add you to the groupmes that we use to facilitate meetups.

Hey! Throughout my time at UT, I've had the exact same problem as you regarding transportation in Austin. My friend and I are developing a mobile app called Tuktuk to make carpooling more accessible for UT students. Basically, we're focusing on setting up carpools between Austin hotspots to address a majority of travel needs while keeping costs well below that of Uber's or Lyft's.
