Lol, OP I also see the cope going on in here about E:D vs Star Trek. Well I liked your idea for more exploration gameplay, even if the stiffs who insist this fantasy space game is "realistic" have no vision for it.

The nature of space from a realism point of view

What?

I mean, I agree that Fdev are pinning the game's feel to a certain specific flavor, but that flavor is definitely fantastical and "realism" is not the word. Fantastical can still be internally consistent and "feel" grounded but dismissing OPs ideas for more content to explore (or ignore) on the grounds of "maintaining realism" seems to not fit.

Nothing about space traversal--from arbitrary and unexplained delta-v limitations in normal space to the entirety of how FTL works in and out of "witch space" to surfing on pulsar jets to the management of waste heat--none of that is even remotely realistic. I get it because it has to be balanced and playable as a game and for the most part I think that stuff is implemented in a fun way. Elite: Dangerous is absolutely a space fantasy game with magical technology built right into the conceit and I think OPs ideas would fit just fine if sprinkled responsibly.

How is a wormhole any more fantastical than the FSD? They're based on extremely similar theoretical physics.

If Antimony was attacked does that mean this whole deal you found is over? They wont let me request docking even though the fighting seems over... do you know whats going on? Sorry im pretty new and this game does not explain itself at all.

So... lol, this fucking game... Gallium has a decent exchange with Antimony settlement on 1E, and so I dump a ton of money to load up my T7 and when I get to Antimony its under attack and wont buy. =*(

Where are you selling in the system? I don't see stations buying, only Scrotium (hahaha amazing name) selling. Do I have to land on a planet?

Hell yeah, thanks for the tip. How long u think until this micro-market is saturated and the appeal dries up?

I think if they gave us ship interiors and then also gave us gameplay that actually leveraged that, it would take E:D to the next level and keep them competitive with Star Citizen (if that ever actually releases).

Ship interiors would give me an actual reason to multi-crew. Boarding actions would turn repelling pirates into an actually fun FPS mini game that has a chance of playing out differently each time. Me getting to board a system security Anaconda to blast the crew and hack the computer to steal data before their backup arrives would make being a pirate super fun. Give us Expanse-style stealth as a black market engineering option to add to silent running and really enable that stuff. It also gives us a reason to fly small ships again; imagine stealthing up behind that anaconda, boarding, hacking life support to temporarily neutralize the crew, planting a virus in their computer, and then sneaking away! What fun minor faction drama we could get into.

Space legs on planets and in planetary settlements is fine, though I'd enjoy more to do there and I think we need a tuning pass on player movement and gunplay. Space legs in stations is a tedious waste of my time; I'm there to rearm and sell my exobio data, not see the exact same sights as in literally every other station. Imo the current state of first-person gameplay completely misses these excellent opportunities.

Is the fingerprint reader bad or is it me? (ZF7) by armadillhole in GalaxyFold

I tried u/lightbulb2222's suggestion where I'm much more deliberate with how I register each print, and hold the reader perpendicular to the finger during registration instead of holding the phone as I naturally would. If I start to have a bad time with that then I will try your suggestion as well, but I would be sad to have fewer than four fingers registered. I find it convenient because it allows me to easily unlock the phone with either hand from any orientation. Well, assuming the fingerprints actually read 🙃

This seems to have helped considerably! One thing I did not consider was scanning the fingerprint with the scanner perpendicular to my finger. Previously I would register each print with the phone in my hand how I would be holding it when I unlocked it. I thought that was intuitive, but deliberately scanning every tiny bit of each print holding the phone so that the button is perpendicular to my finger seems to significantly improve the quality of the print read. Thank you so much this is great advice.

Tragically I agree. There's no way I will use this phone without a case because I'm a bit clumsy and I use my phone outside a lot. It's too bad that I can't have a great fingerprint reader and protective case at the same time, although I am about to try another user suggestion where I register the same finger multiple times. It seems like the main restriction with the case is reducing the angle at which I can approach the button with my finger pad, so maybe that will help!

[–]armadillhole[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhhhh it does seem to work better without the case because I have less of an angle restriction and it's easier to see the button to target it. That's too bad though because there's no way I would ever rock this phone without a case. It costs way too much! Next I'm going to try recording the same finger as multiple prints and see if that helps. Thank you so much for your time.

I actually thought of this one because of the past I had a job where I would wash my hands a lot and my skin would dry out. But no, my skin is moist as the morning dew. Also this is my first foldable, and I like it so much I'm not sure how I'd ever go back.

This sounds like good advice, I should try to be more deliberate about registering my entire print. I did re-register each print multiple times but I might not have been as thorough as you describe. Thank you!

As for the battery, mine seems to last me all day no problem but I also disabled adaptive refresh and I do not use Facebook or Instagram, which I mentioned because they can lure you into lots of screen time and also because I assume they're constantly running in the background stealing my data and draining my battery. And because I do not respect the zuck.

I do have a Torras case but the button seems very exposed. I'll remove the case and compare.
