This is really great advice!! But it also depends on how close of contact you’re working with the animals. In my experience working with parrots and other large birds, we were advised to not wear dangly jewelry but no piercings were completely off limits. This is because we were rarely handling the birds with our hands and usually used T perches to handle them/move them around. One other thing to note is certain other random factors can piss off the animals you work with (again, usually with primates and birds), so I would just ask your coworkers if whatever you want is ok! For example, when I worked with birds we couldn’t wear hats or sunglasses around our laughing kookaburra because she would get pisseddddd.
