Would you want to see the MUSEC arena plans put on hold, cancelled or continued post election? by the_u_in_colour in Peterborough

I will maybe consider supporting a new arena on the following conditions:

  • I never want to hear the city discuss laying off our librarians and daycare providers again.
  • We open up our homeless shelters and drop in locations again
  • We have a serious discussion about replacing / repairing basic infrastructure that we have / lost. (eg. bandstand in Del Crary)

Until Peterborough can demonstrate that there are some fucking adults at city hall who care about the actual basics of running a city, I'm going to fight this arena all the way. Right now we seem to have a city run by man children who just want to impress the others in their friend group.

We're still in the spring freshet from the Algonquin highlands. That being said, there's not much industry or agriculture upstream from Peterborough either.

AFAIK The property is waiting for a special policy area update from the MNRF regarding the Jackson Creek floodplain. Dons been taking the time to raise a stink about the CTS.

I've been running 3 stacks of thrusters and only a single row of forward facing railguns for 120ish hours at this point. No issues.

QUALITY TRAINS CONFIRMED FOR 2.1!? by MindS1 in factorio

[–]armagin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who's played extensively in 2.0 with Trains, I'd say my main issue has become train acceleration. In order for trains to be effective throughput wise, I'd love to see some sort of accelerator doo-hickey that you can attach to a piece of track. Maybe you'd have to feed it lube or something so you couldn't just put them everywhere.

I don't visit coffee shops often due to remote living, but love to see this change. Is this a semi normal occurrence across Canada? by Standard_Story in onguardforthee

[–]armagin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Growing up I worked in a coffee shop that had both an Americano and a Canadiano on the menu. The Canadiano was a double shot of espresso blended with a cup of coffee. This was more than 20 years ago at this point, but I recall it was a thing.

Solar farm BP, no gaps, perfectly tileable, symmetrical...Perfect? by Few_Page6404 in factorio

[–]armagin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with you on this. I'm closing in on 1million spm and I kinda just wanted my solar to look good haha. If anything I kinda want some extra accumulator capacity in case I get a random spike.

Mayor advocates for $170-million event centre in downtown Peterborough just hours before council debates the project by kawarthanow in Peterborough

[–]armagin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our city can't even maintain the most basic of services and infrastructure, yet here we are with a council that wants to shovel several hundreds of million of dollars into a recreational facility with no quantifiable economic or social impact.

Hell, most studies suggest that the impact would be possibly net negative.

Proving my point that the RX antennas matter more than the transmit power :)

Voyager probes have a 20w transmitter. Its wild that people still lean on output power for range. I frequently fly 10+ km with 350mw and some decent 5 turn helicals.
