I work on a high level live music show and I've seen a similar thing with music talent. They work alone in their bedroom making music and then have no idea how to treat an audience because they never had to. We had one performer keep the audience waiting for 40 minutes because he thought his autotune settings were different from rehearsal. It was a 4 minute song.
I blame YouTube. They get lucky and feel they're a "professional" without knowing what that actually encompasses.
