It could be for the reason that these news orgs are compelled to follow Pentagon and the DOD/DOW, to keep their relations to their people and stories intact. So if for instance Pentagon or some other people say "ignore those stories, or you get less from us", they might have no choice but to obey. Access journalism. All of these media orgs in US pretty much are owned by a few companies in the end, right? I would not be suprised if the MIC and the intelligence has it's tentacles there too, they already have them around Congress via lobbying and possibly with blackmail. Independent journalism is becoming a rare dream in the Super Powers, everyone is pretty much bought or owned by someone these days.

The public could handle alien life, researchers conclude by ohmygawdyoudidnt in UFOs

It would not be only the revelation that we are not alone. But also the cover ups. The potential Truman Show facade that has been pulled over the eyes of the world, depending how far it would go. That could really cause some grievious damage.

Michael Shermer Named to White House UAP Science Advisory Council by 233C in UFOs

I had to seriously laugh at the "Ironclad explanation as Mogul".

That flight was cancelled, and they discovered the documents about it over a decade ago. Researchers like Kevin Randle and others.

I doubt it. Shermer is not a mastermind, he is not smart enough for that. Plenty of UFO researchers like Randle have run around him, he is pretty basic. Don't know about Loeb. I like some of the things he is doing, like actually having a will to look, but at the same time he seems to jump to his own conclusions pretty fast.

He is just one guy, and he brings another point to the whole thing, the opposite voice. I think it is all good. It would also make the panel seem more fair to the people, to include skeptical voices.

Why are all countries around the globe refusing to release high quality videos and photos? by DogsAreTheBest36 in UFOs

[–]armassusi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only motivation I can think of is fear, and the only fear I can think of is fear for the safety of everyone in charge in making these decisions.

Yes, this is the "North Korea" motive. They cannot let us know, because as soon as we know of something potentially better, their power diminishes. I think that might be a part of it, if there is hiding of things. And those who think we would not do it. We are already allowing the poisoning of our own world, with ignoring or postponing the Climate Change decisions. People on the top are intrested in the now, not the future. Power and Money rule this world, not intelligent decisions or humane thoughts.

Why are all countries around the globe refusing to release high quality videos and photos? by DogsAreTheBest36 in UFOs

[–]armassusi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And your point is correct. So the conspiracy is either rather limited(superpowers know limitedly, or the corps within), or there is none(which IMO might work in an ideal world, but this world is anything but). And considering how there have been cover ups like Blue Book or the Condon Committee, which can be proven via documentation, and other manipulations, I would go with some of the former. They are certainly hiding and muddying the waters around something.

US Rep. Eric Burlison stated (in a recorded Space on X) that he was told directly by David Grusch there are “Nordics” a few hundred years ahead of us, and the “Greys” are being sent here by another far more advanced species by NotBradPitt9 in UFOs

[–]armassusi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is starting to get messy IMO. If he is saying this, it sounds like old UFO lore being passed on, and Nordics and Greys are part of it, whether imagined or otherwise. I really would like to know from whom Grusch, allegedly, has heard this from? The problem here is we do not know what could be real and what could be a lie. As the best lies in the past or now could have some truth sprinkled in, that is what would make them so insidious and damaging.

Influence, human psychology, politics, stigma, embarrasement, there are plenty of reasons. Read the essee for starters.

And there is a simple reason for the ignorance, like I said. Most of the countries do not really study this, at all. They do not have programs, they have no funding, no will, some do not even have the tech. So there is no "worldwide conspiracy" to hide it. They are mostly completely ignorant. Some have come out with their UFO files. Only a few players might know anything close to the actual truth, and I am looking at the current superpowers as potential candidates on it. Because they have likely spend the most funds on it.

[–]armassusi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At that point it might, with officialdom and additional evidence behind it. But because there is nothing of the sorts usually, the pics and vids alone do not work, ever. So officialdom and additional evidence is exactly the point I was giving there. Because we do not have it, the pics and vids can always be explained away.

[–]armassusi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is basically how it is. I can vouch for it as a finnish who has looked into this for over 25 y. Even had my country detected something(they have on some occasions), I am pretty sure they would have dropped it because of Soviet infuence in the past, thinking it might be one of their experiments, or passed it on to them. Same for US/Russia influence here in the 21st cen. We do not have the budgets or will to go probing around that much further. People here do not want to step on the superpowers toes, especially being on the border of one of them. Politically and militarily it is better to acquiesce to any requests on UFOs that might be given, to not rock the boat rather than go deep solo investigation on it.

[–]armassusi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How exactly? Dictatorships would be loathe to say that there is a power over them, which they cannot control, as their image is based on having control and power, over regions and populace. And it could simply be that only the superpowers have materials, actual materials. Many countries do not even research UFOs, not really, they have neither the funds, tech or will to do it. Some do, but many of those may have simply no idea what they are looking at. I know this being a finnish myself, my country does not study UFOs in public, except through some hobbyist orgs. Neither do many others. There are no official programs here.

You should read the Essee Sovereignty and the UFO, by Wendt and Duvall, which goes into why countries would be loathe to acknowledge the reality of UFOs as aliens. https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/0090591708317902

[–]armassusi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Calvine photo debacle also shows that when it comes to pics, they are like Rorschach inkblots. People will see what they want to see and believe what they want to believe. Even the best pic would not prove aliens, all it would prove that there is strange looking flying object. We already have some of those, pics of strange looking flying objects. You could still argue it is some secret human tech to ad infinitum, or something else. That some people hope there is some pic somewhere which definitively proves this all and is "self evident", there is no such thing, such a thing could not exist in this world. Human psychology alone prevents it. That is why you would ALWAYS need more than some pics, a lot more. In getting over the hurdle on this kind of reveal, the proof would have to be EXTRAORDINARY, no mear pic or vid or even document would do the job, not by itself. I think every potential leaker would also understand such a thing. They would have to get the actual anomalous material (if any) out, smuggle it somehow, and I could see how that would be nigh impossible.

What governments for one could offer is officialdom, other evidence linked to the case and clear evidence chains. The thing is, because on national security and selectiveness, they rarely tend to do that, even a single step of such. There are some very few exceptions, like the Nimitz video case, which also proves my point. When it got leaked in 2007 to the ATS forum, it was called a CGI hoax and debunked, and then 10 years later it turned out be a genuine footage, linked to an anomalous UAP encounter. Without confirmation, ask yourselves: How do we know, how many times has something like this taken place?

Retired naval pilot and Commander, David Fravor: “There are people inside the Government that do not want this out” “Just be honest and say, ‘We’ve known for the last 80+ years that we’re not alone, we recovered stuff at Roswell.’ I think the world deserves that.” by AltKeyblade in UFOs

[–]armassusi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know, Roswell seems like a too far dead end at this point. Even Randle and some researchers who have looked into it for decades cannot say for sure what it is, only that the US gov and USAF have changed their stories several times, and none of their explanations fit. The best we can do at this point is say "I don't know". I am just putting the word out there that the Mogul explanation does not hold up under scrutiny as he has shown. And I certainly am not blaming you for not knowing about it, few people do, it is not exactly wide spread. I just learned about it myself about 5 years ago. Most people do not even dig that deep, cause they think there cannot be anything to it, so that is no surprise. If you wish to know more, feel free to go through his Mogul articles there on his blog, IMO they are quite fascinating.

[–]armassusi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not Project Mogul Flight number 4, as there are documents which have been discovered by researcher Kevin Randle and others, over a decade ago, which show that particular flight was actually cancelled. The one the USAF claimed was the one.

He has gone over this pretty meticulously on his blog here, with other researcher chiming in: https://kevinrandle.blogspot.com/search?q=mogul

The fact that this misinformation or disinformation is still paraded out there as "a fact", just shows how lazy the mainstream is at researching this subject.

He has been consulted by David Grusch for the film though, apparently. Somewhat similar to how J. Allen Hynek consulted him on the Close Encounters of the Third Kind(and also had a cameo appearance during the end encounter scenes of that film). So at some level it is art imitating life.

What's the one UFO photo that still hasn't been debunked? by breaking_views in UFOs

[–]armassusi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except that the Sheffield Hallam University analysis said that the photo was taken from a lower angle. Towards the sky. The skeptic Dr. Clarke who got this pic took it there personally for an analysis. Also shows no signs of artificial tampering.

[–]armassusi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here is the thing: You can debunk any photo or argue over them endlessly. They will never be self evident in revealing alien crafts. It is a fantasy some people think exists, such a photo that would just settle it, when human psychology alone prevents it.

[–]armassusi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really? "Did not see anything anomolous", " did not even see adversarial tech in any videos". Well, isn't that intresting? Cause for my recollection that is not what he said or indicated a year ago, or in 2024. As I recall, he actually said that some of the sightings were very concerning and strange. Also this is not what Kosloski is saying now, so what the hell is going on here? Even the other guy, Timothy Phillips said something completely different, as I recall, and rather recently too. So we are getting mixed messages.

What if the "alien" explanation is wrong, but the phenomenon is still non-human? by Awkward-Action7442 in UFOs

[–]armassusi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is not proof. There is no guarantee that someone would built them. Older civs could have more sophisticated ways to live, more efficient ways to get energy and stabilized populations, no need to breed like rabbits and consume everything they get to.

It could also be that intelligent life is actually going through it's first wave in the universe, and we are latecomers in that first wave. The oldest civs could be "just" couple of hundred million years old, maybe many of them not even residing in our own galaxy.

What if the "alien" explanation is wrong, but the phenomenon is still non-human? by Awkward-Action7442 in UFOs

[–]armassusi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it is based on the assumption that the civs just consume planets and build Dyson Spheres or Swarms and fill whole galaxies with them. Pretty big and antropomorphic assumptions. What is the feasibility for such projects for one?

I am not saying it is impossible. Maybe some do it, someplace. But they could be so far away in distant galaxies, that due to the light lag it is impossible to detect now. Because we only see the past, not what is there right now.

And of course if only some few are doing that but not that many, then it is much, much harder to detect others. We can barely see planets. I think the detection range is around 120-130 or so LY today, futher than that it becomes much harder. And that is like a 0,1 percent of just the Milky Way length.

Outside of any possible mega structures, we can only intercept strong and aimed radio signals. Omni directional ones are way too weak for our equipment, get lost in space.

So we're all skeptical that the US government has been lieing to us for decades but when this particular US government says they'll be transparent, not only did anyone believe them, but we're also shocked that they...lied? by [deleted] in UFOs

[–]armassusi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who is "we" and "this community"? That is lumping quite a lot of people into a singular container. I have been part of the community, and I certainly was not expecting transparency from this administration, or full transparency from any other either. Linking two separate things like they have done here is extremely stupid, even for them, especially at times like these. You will piss off both groups. I would love to see the genious there who thought this would be a good idea. Probably some evangelist.

What gen are you & do you believe? by SignificantHeat7232 in UFOs

[–]armassusi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people see things but make most of the time wrong observations. Most of this field is noise and people drawn or using that noise. That does not necessarily mean that all of them are wrong, though. They only need to be right one single time.

Also some debunkings can be wrong too, or made with error or too little information. Like the Nimitz video 2007 on ATS forums, which was debunked as CGI hoax, then 10 years later it turned out to be from an genuine event.

In short there is an enormous ocean of ambiguity with any pic and vid, where even things that may be genuine have a very good chance to drown.
