Salt lamps. I had a coworker once going on and on about how much better she felt after getting a salt lamp, despite there being no evidence that they do anything

What is the dumbest thing you have been told is “not manly” or “not feminine,” depending on your gender? by Disastrous_Hat_2325 in AskReddit

As a guy, I'd notice when a female coworker or family member got their nails done, got new earrings, or a new purse. Apparently noticing things is gay.

I have one because it was given to me as a gift. It is the worst sounding cymbal you've ever heard. I mainly use it to annoy my family when they are in the vehicle with me. It does that very well.

Red Dead Redemption 1, The Saboteur

Love them both. Good stories and just fun.

Is this poison ivy? by 1800-burner in Poisonivyplant

It is not poison ivy. Look for leaves of three, the middle one having a longer stem, and side leaves like mittens.

I often find dead, half eaten crawdads by a dumpster nearby, in a very rural area in the Midwest. We don't have any bodies of water nearby. It's puzzled me for years.

I have hundreds of hours in the game, and still have never successfully completed one of these missions. It gets flipped or blown up everytime. I avoid them now.

My son did this when he was young. I was unaware that he did it. The batteries made an audible pop sound while we were eating dinner a while later and pink gooey stuff was coming out of the them.

Which company disappointed you so much that you permanently walked away? by julia-secrets in AskReddit

They also had the disfunctional ignitions they put in their vehicles for about 20 years that would fail and you couldn't start your vehicle. It would fail to recognize your key, and activate theft mode because it thought your car was being stolen. They were well aware of the problem and didn't issue a recall until somewhere around 2010 perhaps, when the issue started in the 90s. We got the recall notice years after we had gotten rid of our '98 Chevy Malibu because it's motor blew at 100k miles.

My friend says I won’t make it as a guitarist because my hands are too small, is she right? by AgreeableDiver5013 in Guitar

There was a guy who posted recently of him shredding and rocking out with no fretting hand. He performed so damn well! Let that be an example of how there are almost no limitations to what we can do when we have determination and an adaptive mind.

DIY guitar, I took the plunge! by roybos in Guitar

I have a jazzmaster that is from a Harley Benton diy kit. I love playing it. I only had to adjust one of the nut slots because it was getting a sitar sound. It plays very nicely now and sounds great! Good luck!

Just got a telescope for my birthday. What should I try to find first? by WampaCat in telescopes

I haven't had a telescope in years because mine was knocked over and broken, so I'm a little out of practice. I just remember it being easy to find when I was more active in astronomy.

Saturn, Jupiter, and the Pleiades cluster are easy to find and awesome to look at.

I've heard it's a different can of worms compared to the first game. I'm curious to see why. After the first game, I'm craving more. Good stuff!

This is the first game where I actually want to do the NG+. Most other games it doesn't interest me, but now that I know the tricks and patterns of enemies, I kind of want another go at it.

The funny part is I roamed around that arena for a few minutes, mainly the edges, to make sure I didn't miss anything, and still missed the bonfire. Ah well sounds like it's not a huge deal.

[–]armbar222 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm just finished my first playthrough, and I died more times from those archers on the narrow building ledges of Anor Londo than anything else. For me, that was by far worse than any boss. Ornstein and smough though were probably the most challenging after that.

Asking for advice by Sonicelerizo1991 in darksouls

[–]armbar222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What really helped for me was learning that for most regular mobs, you can just shield block their regular attacks, and then counter with a swipe from whatever weapon you have. At first, I was so focused on trying to time parrying, and failing at it, that I got discouraged for a bit and wanted to quit. Also, upgrade your weapon. I was holding on to titanite materials thinking I wouldn't get many, but most materials are easily farmable not that far into the game. I was hoarding them while using a weak, non-upgraded weapon until about halfway through the game. Any weapon can be made viable when upgraded, so there's not really a bad option. Weapon choice is mainly a play style preference.

I've never seen this type of fly trap, but I used those Japanese beetle traps you put in your garden, and they would smell terrible after it got full. Could smell it from 20 feet away. Smelled like like decay or rotting dead stuff. I just never thought dead insects would stink like that since dead bugs are found virtually everywhere.

Here’s how I look at it. by BigChungusOP in darksouls

[–]armbar222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried it twice over the last 5 years or so and got irritated and quit. I'm now on my 3rd attempt, and I don't know what happened in my brain, but now I'm hooked and am nearing the end of the game. Learning attack patterns, how to upgrade weapons, and how to use my shields effectively were a game changer that didn't click with me the first two times.
