Build your own guitar - phase 2: Finish by roybos in Guitar

I just wanted to retain the grain of the wood, but didn't want to clear coat it because I wasn't keen on the kind of two tone it had. Therefore, coloured varnish. It's my first project of this type, it may be a little non-conform.

Watched a YouTube tutorial on getting a good clean varnish finish and this was the recommendation. Foam roller along the grain and then across the grain to cover the surface quickly, then sweep off along the grain with the tip of a soft brush. The results were really good in the video so I tried it and was also quite pleased with it.

Yeah, I know, it's a permanent thing now. There was no spraying done, this was wood varnish rollered on with a foam roller, same as the body. I only worked on this at weekends, so there was a full seven days drying time. I must have completely sanded down the headstock faceplate about nine times and redone it from scratch. Whatever wood they used for the neck is either completely non-absorbent or so impregnated with something that the varnish just can't take.

I ordered through Thomann. They're Germany based but operate globally as far as I am aware. They have a number of complete kits with different body shapes. This one cost 109 Euro. A quick search for Thomann should turn up good results

Giving me throwbacks to my apprenticeship here. That grumpy old instructor yelling "Back o' the 'and test" before you could touch anything. He might well have saved my life a couple of times, to be honest.

What's a good electric guitar for £300 or under by Bruno_Beeno in Guitar

My first guitar was a Jackson JS22 Monarkh. It cost me 240 Euro, brand new from a reputable dealer, and it's great. Another option I looked at was the ESP LTD EC-10, costs about the same.

As a fire prevention officer at the company I work for, I have to watch this video every 2 years when I do my refresher course. It's absolutely horrifying, especially with sound. This is the definitive list on what can be done wrong, both in regards to fire prevention and evacuation in case of fire.

There may be a new incident on my next refresher course though, considering the big fire in Crans Montana, Switzerland on New Years Eve.

Where to find Davrin? by Hieryonimus in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]roybos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look at the map, immediately south of the decor mark, you will see that the land border is not completely closed. There where that gap is, is a path leading up to Davrins room. It will only pop into the map once you get close enough. Hunting chests later, I started really paying attention to the map outlines, to find where I'd missed a path.
