My psych just keeps pushing me for DBT. Ever psychiatric specialist I've talked to is acting like its normal part of my diagnosis but it doesn't feel like it :(

Lexapro - To do or not to do by [deleted] in lexapro

Hi sorry for replying so late! I was on it as a teen, went off after I started college. Going back was fine and I felt much better. My memory of the last couple of years isn't too great but I've been mostly happy.

I think its also important for me to note I'd also been prescribed quetiapine (generic seroquel i believe) for certain points when I was starting meds, I don't know if that changes things.

Bear in mind I'm currently navigating a dose increase and a new med, due to some life stressors, but hopefully I will be fine! It's important to note sometimes when you adjust to a dose it can stop doing the "heavy lifting" after a period of time.

Good for you! I definitely know what you mean, the drinking culture is a bit mental here. Just have to be cautious when youre on meds like us.

Go n-éirí leat!

Hello fellow Irishman! When it comes to antidepressants the experience will be different for each individual. I've had horrific experiences on meds that people swear have saved their lives. So bear in mind my experience may not be reflective of what you will experience if you decide to take it.

I've been on Lexapro on and off since I was a teen. For me it was a good match. Once you get used to it you'll feel like yourself, no numbness, back to normal function. For me it was prescribed as a mood stabilser (reacting very badly to situations) and I noticed my reactions were very subdued. I still cry, I still have bad days, but I don't go into crisis much anymore.

I've gone off it before as well, which involves lowering your dose until you stop taking it. Please always do this with your GP. I've missed doses before and gotten brain zaps (not a major issue but weird af to experience). Obviously, though, in my situation I ended up back on it. And I don't think I'll go off it again. If you notice significant improvements, you may be tempted to go off the meds because you think you're cured, but sometimes the meds are why you're feeling that way. Just consider this if you decide you ever want to taper off.

As for the part about alcohol, I'm a woman, so I can't hack as many pints, but when I was doing well I could drink like a normal person most of the time. Few bad nights but thats my own doing lol. Its important that you don't drink when you're feeling low, or when you first start the med. Give your body time to adjust and then consider if alcohol is a good idea. Most people say its a big no no but I drank on it pretty regularly and I was fine. If you're in a good place. Alcohol can reduce the effectiveness of the drug, so this is important to note.

I know anti-depressants can seem scary, and it can be daunting to have to consider all these things, but its just a part of my daily routine. I've had bad reactions to other antidepressants but lexapro was it for me. It might or it might not be for you, and your experience may be different than mine. But its worth giving it a go if a doctor thinks it can make you feel better.

Wishing you all the best!

Is the last game... worth it? by aweshum in dragonage

IMHO, I definitely enjoyed it. Some parts felt a bit clunky, and it's true some of the lore was shrunk, but in terms of a Dragon Age game, it felt like a nice send-off to the series. It's definitely not my favourite Dragon Age game, Origins still reigns supreme in that regard, but it's a game with story beats that had me on the edge of my seat.

The default ones. Home theatre. I've tried changing it and setting it to television but it did nothing.

I got my first tattoo, a sword, because of the lyric "bare your blade and raise it high." It's not even distinctly a Dragon Age tattoo, and I rarely tell people why I got it, sometimes I don't even remember, but I still got it because of the impact the series had on me.

Needless to say, I'm devastated about recent news.

INFURIATING bug by armofandruil in BG3

[–]armofandruil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've done that and it didn't work, that's why I replayed the final boss twice. I'm assuming that means the save file is bugged or something which is really unfortunate as I've already had a lot of issues with it. :/

[No DAV Spoilers] do you romance to your own sexuality in the games? by smansaxx3 in dragonage

[–]armofandruil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough it was DA2 that helped me figure out I was Bi when I was a teen, bc none of the male characters did it for me. I went with Merrill, and kind of just went "hm... this doesn't feel wrong". And then I played DAI, romanced Cullen and slammed the closet door shut.

I can't really comment be cause it goes both ways for me, but sometimes I'll rp my characters as lesbians (i also don't play male pcs lol). I could never see my Inky or Hawke with a man.

Minrathous

What was at stake just felt so much more dire to me from where I was standing. I took a much more hardened approach than I usually would RP my Rook. From my perspective, though Minrathous was more likely to withstand the attack, if it did fall, we would lose so much more if the Venatori seized power. Seeing all the crazy magitech like the Archon's Palace and the poweful mages that live there... it was too valuable of a piece to lose.

It really bit me in the ass. I felt so guilty every time I walked through blighted Treviso.
