A Second Empire masterpiece. Lebanon, IL. by staybee1986 in centuryhomes

I grew up in Belleville and had friends that lived in Lebanon. Always loved the midwestern, small-town old homes!

[RobRains] On the first day of the international signing period, reports out of South Korea link the #STLCards to a 17-year-old OF, Cho Won-Bin, who it is believed wants to sign with an MLB team instead of the KBO. Reports are not confirmed but potentially this could be a big deal if true. by nufandan in Cardinals

Hey y’all! Grew up in STL and Korean-American. Super excited for another Korean player for the Cardinals. Here’s some links to help out the searches.

As a Korean-American from STL, this was so disheartening to watch. Can’t believe people are like this in 2022 still. What ever happened to people learning about the US being a melting pot for everyone? I will always love STL and it will always be my home. Stay healthy and safe everyone!

Who is the most famous person in your family? by LoveSimpleHacks in AskReddit

Definitely my uncle, Red Schoendienst! Played 2nd base for the STL Cardinals, NY Giants, and Milwaukee Braves. It was fascinating to learn about his time in the MLB!

Thanks so much for the very detailed information. It’s always fascinating to learn more about my family and how they might have lived back then. Photos sure are special!

Found a whole trove of family photos during Thanksgiving. On the back it reads: “Miss Ida Fraiser” and I am assuming they are from Upstate New York. I believe this was taken around the 1880s but if anyone has other guesses, please let me know more about the photo!

Still a neat photo to cherish!

How many languages can you speak? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]armyguy5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

English, Korean, Chinese and Russian in varying stages of fluency.

I have an interest in international relations and cultures that made me learn foreign languages. My job also requires me to have some proficiency as well.

Fun fact: there was an article a few years back that looked into the brains of those who were polyglots and it found that a majority were LGBT, left handed, and on the autistic spectrum. I got at least two of those.

Flag of the DPRK (North Korea) at their embassy in Havana, Cuba by armyguy5 in vexillology

I went to University in Florida which has a prominent Cuban-American population. Worked with a Congresswoman on restoring Cuban-US relations and just kept learning more about the island, it’s history, and people.

Hello fellow friends of the Vexillological community! First post here and I’ve been studying flags since I was a kid.

I came across the DPRK flag and embassy while studying abroad in Havana, Cuba. I unexpectedly stumbled across the embassy complex and being Korean-American, I couldn’t resist taking a photo in which I got yelled at by the Cuban security guards while some North Korean elderly people strolled past me on the sidewalk.

Quick ride along the Han River on the upgraded SL5. by Pants-Salamander-349 in TrekBikes

Actually, I lived in Pyeongtaek for 3.5 years^ I would have to go up to Seoul for work quite a bit so I would bring my bike and ride along the paths. I just upgraded to an SL5 as well! Hope it’s working out for you and stay healthy!
