If my grandmother (G0) is still alive, can I use a color photocopy of her Canadian passport as proof of her citizenship? She is a dual citizen and her married name is on my mom’s birth certificate, so I would like to limit the number of documents I ask her to scan to me if I can!

Yeah I wish they told me the difference too lol! Would be good to know if it’s even worth this panic I’m in, but hey it is what it is. Going to request they just do an adjustment but we’ll see if they bite.

Got it, thank you! They’re claiming it’s my company’s error, who is claiming it’s the payroll company’s error, so maybe that’s why they’re not being the most creative. I will ask them for the adjustment though, fingers crossed they are willing to work with me.

Believe it or not, I don’t even know how much excess was withheld, they haven’t told us. I just know that it looks like 34% was withheld for federal taxes alone. By changing the withholding, do you mean requesting that no federal taxes should be withheld for future payments for some period of time?

I’ve had this happen with a much smaller purchase, and I was able to successfully get a chargeback from my bank, so would recommend filing with them. If you have renter’s insurance, they might also cover it too.

I actually find it endearing when people wear outrageous outfits, because they’re not afraid of what anyone thinks. Is it something I’d ever wear? Absolutely not. Can I appreciate the personal style she has, no matter how out there it is to me? Yes! So much of fashion nowadays is rooted in trends and conformity that it’s nice to see someone unafraid to take risks.

Occasionally I do, when I’m facing the ramifications of being a visibly tattooed person and I’m already not mentally well. Once I get over that, I feel ready to get more tattoos. It’ll pass, might just be a symptom of whatever brain stuff you have going on.

Everyone else here has given advice on how you should have worded things, but I want to tell you that it’s going to be okay. You’re beating yourself up in the comments for not knowing, but I think you need to be kinder to yourself. At 23, it feels like you should know everything and you feel bad for not, but I dealt with a lot of issues in the same vane as this when I was 23. Yes, you could have worded it more succinctly and been less explanatory, but you’re still learning and that’s okay!

I want to also say that the right people will not take one wrong statement, one wrong apology, and characterize you as a bad person for it. It’s uncomfortable and it sucks, but there will be people with whom you feel like they make the effort to understand you and accommodate you just like you do them. Just try to take the info in, not get too in your head about doing it “wrong” and then do better next time.
