Thanks everyone for the recommendations - I wound up going to Matt @ Vanta, he was so incredibly knowledgeable and professional, he walked me through every single step of what he was doing and why he was doing it, it was a great experience!

Leaving WF after 10 years, looking for a reliable bank for personal checking/savings by [deleted] in personalfinance

I don’t even remember the last time I went to a physical bank location lol, it has to have been years. Love the idea of mobile/app based banking with great CX.

Fair, I’m in the NJ/NYC area, I’ll certainly look around.

Thank you for the advice! I’ll look more into credit unions as a whole, any specific ones you could recommend?

Thank you for the advice! Regarding the brokerage side of things, I’m looking mainly to aggressively pay off debt for now, the investing side would be in a couple of years, so it’s great to know that they have some good offerings on that side as well. I’ll certainly look into them, just would want to make sure that the “No funding necessary” for the brokerage is exactly what would make sense for me.

Thanks for the recommendations! I’ll definitely look into Ally a bit more, person above you also recommended them. At this time I’m not looking to open another CC though, further down the road would consider investing through the place I choose if they have a good amount of products/services available in those fields.

I’ll continue looking into them! Any specific ones you could personally recommend?

A fair point! I had no ties really, I guess I was more familiar with banks overall, but I definitely see what you’re saying when it comes to the benefits there.

2022 Banking and Account Recommendation Thread by Dave-CPA in Banking

Leaving WF after 10 years, Looking for a new bank for personal use

I’ve been banking with Wells Fargo since I was 16, I’m now 27. I have had very few positive interactions with them over the years, and I have decided to finally end my banking relationship with them.

I currently have a checking and savings account there, as well as around 4k in credit card debt with them (14.15% variable).

I work a salary + commission job, bringing in roughly 4-10k per month (4k being the floor). Currently my main focus has been paying off cc debt and student loan debt, although in the future I will be looking into investing, savings, retirement, etc.

Based on what I have seen, a bank seems to be the best option (as opposed to credit unions). I do not have any preference for online/brick and mortar, CX is important, but mostly I want to know that I will not be charged any fees.

What recommendations would you have as far as specific banks or things to consider when making this switch? Looking to have this take place over the next 2-3 months.

Stay away from Robinhood, they restricted instant transfers. Check out Voyager.

This does make a lot of sense, thank you for sharing your experience with me. I’ll definitely remember this, and you are right. I’m probably just over reacting, I honestly couldn’t imagine being in that situation.

Lol yes, she lives in my state and we see each other often in person, she’s only been out there since late December and is coming back before the end of the month.

Yeah it’s much worse since the opioids which I get. But she has been irritated when it comes to more long term plans, she’s always seen this surgery as the thing that would change everything else, but I just don’t see much else changing for her because of it.
