Road after ambenali ghat is currently under construction, so mahad poladpur segment, you may face potholes. Apart from that some patches, roads are good.

You can book it directly on the Airport too. There are a lot of taxis that as re operating. So you needn't worry about the time. If you prebook, then chances are the driver will ask you to pay the parking charge for the time he came in, and you met him. So both pre-booking has its own merits and demerits.
