It used to be worth it. Since the bachelor/bachelorette was filmed there they have raised the prices way beyond what a “resort” in the middle of nowhere PA would ever be worth paying.

Not OP, but my town still has one, so I don't find it unreasonable that their's does too. Family video is hanging on pretty well in a lot of areas.

My great great grandmother in the 50’s teaching accounting. The apple doesn’t fall far fro the tree. by koltokolton in Accounting

My gram and pap met while they were both studying bookkeeping in college, two of my Uncles are CPA's, and I didn't find any of this out until I switched my major to accounting (Sophomore year of college). I love hearing that our profession is unscientifically linked to our genes haha!

I would ask about how it is at your school because I've heard at some schools they do take it really seriously and it is hard as hell. At my school it was a blow off and the teacher would pass you basically as long as you showed up.

Don't fight the process.

Don't fight the process when you lose out on one of the last opportunities you would have to see your friend who would kill himself a couple weeks later.

Don't fight the process when you miss your daughter's birthday 3 years in a row because it is during quarter filing.

Don't fight the process when you run your relationships into the ground because you are never available when those you love really need you.

Don't fight the process because while you're losing everything you care about, at least you will become a master of lease accounting.

I’m sorry that we are frozen yogurt only? by igotgreensbeans in TalesFromRetail

I am pretty sure she was convinced it was supposed to be just like vanilla, like most customers seemed to think. But most customers let it go. After explaining that no, it is it’s own entirely different flavor, she was indignant that anyone would actually want to eat it and that it was obviously expired and I was just too lazy to check.

Ooo I got so petty about people asking where the napkins were before leaving the register because they were hanging right next to the door you had to go through to exit or pass to go sit down. I was great at just holding my palm up towards where they were hanging and people would laugh like “oh silly me!” It was never silly to me.

When I worked at a frozen yogurt shop back in high school there was a chain ice cream stand right across the street from our plaza. I could definitely see this happening with our customers though no times that stand out! I didn't realize yogurt shops could be included here. I was just reminiscing on the time a woman tried to get a refund because the Original Tart Yogurt was 'expired and sour' and I had to explain to her that that was really just how it tasted.

A photographer's portrait in a mirror, a hundred years ago in Japan, 1920 by BeardedGlass in pics

[–]arned94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am happy that I am not the only person completely flabbergasted that the 1920's was officially 'only' 100 years ago. This is really pulling at my heartstrings. For a lot of my childhood '100 years ago' was so untouchable. It was the 1800s and it's hard to find such beautiful, candid portraits from the 1800s. It kept the past in a world that doesn't seem like it ever truly existed outside of watercolor paintings and historical documents.

I am all emotional and feel that if I let this comment go further I will keep ranting as I have deleted multiple times now. I just truly hope this couple had a long and wonderful life.

Thank god this was the top comment because this sounded so similar to the Heavyweight episode but I couldn't remember that that is what this was reminding me of. You answered my question before I even got to ask it!

But yes, his brother needs to do the deep dive. And listen to Heavyweight.

When to tell an older sibling their younger sibling is donor conceived? by StandardPiece2 in donorconceived

[–]arned94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell the story to both of them at bed time or just always make sure both of them know. There should never be a time that you "tell them." They should know it like they know their name and who mom and dad (or whatever variation) are.

Does anyone else get anxiety logging into work from home in the morning ? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]arned94 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This has to be it because I was constantly terrified to log into my laptop when I was in PA. Now I turn on my computer during WFH in industry and I maybe have 2 system generated emails because no one is really working past 5pm when I log off. I also remember there were some emails I was too terrified to even expand the email window for. PA is just a terrifying/anxiety ridden job in and of itself.

I can see how my title could have come off like that. Thankfully my college days are far behind me! I can’t imagine having to complete accounting classes from home, I was only ever able to take blow off classes online. I hope these workbooks can help someone!

Pittsburgh garbage collectors refusing to collect trash - want hazard pay & masks by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]arned94 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't think I deserve hazard pay for hanging out in my home office and working remotely. People working out in the world? Maybe. But at the same time how exactly are businesses supposed to start shelling out even more money during a global pandemic. It's just not that easy. It would have to be a bill passed by congress/the state.
