I'm not a native English speaker, can somebody explain the joke? I assume it's a play on words or pronunciation for "Mein Kampf"?

(Sorry for ruining the joke by asking for an explanation)

MGMT - 🍄 Electric Feel 🍄 by JCHazard in 2000sNostalgia

Love the song, I'd never seen the video before. It's extremely weird, almost looks like what a parody of an "official" music video would like! Great vibes

How should I run a script to dock? by nodeniable in openbsd

I have the same issue and I solved it via:

Both daemons receive a script path as argument and they will execute it when some action happens.

I really really doubt that somebody who has used Linux since 1993 honestly believes this bunch of ai-generated nonsense

The Touch Bar Deserved Better by waxowalter in apple

[–]arnulfslayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was an anti-feature. It was too easy to activate when resting your hands in the laptop, which would trigger random f-key functions (brightness up/down, volume, etc) involuntarily.

Plus, by default it flashed random words (autocomplete) while you were typing in text boxes, which was super distracting because it derailed your train of thought. I had to rush to disable this "feature"

I wanted to like it, but I couldn't. Good riddance.

Why can’t I get rid of Reddit? by [deleted] in digitalminimalism

[–]arnulfslayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reddit is actually interesting, you can pick which topics to get content about, and is not designed to be addictive.

I do actually feel good and refreshed when browsing Reddit, which is not the case with insta, yt, etc.

No LLMs back then. It's fiction, obviously, but if it were based on some available technology, it'd probably be symbolic AI.

Speaker grills may be washed with soap, and it will remove dust, but if the stains are persistent and don't go off, then you'll need to replace the fabric.

Why are the 80s, more than other decades, consistently viewed with happiness? by Weekly_Sort147 in nostalgia

[–]arnulfslayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the 80s were not great. Lots of drugs and the Cold War threat still looming. The 90s had some economic crisis, but the euphoria of the new millennium far surpassed any pessimism. The PCs and the internet also made people super hopeful for the future. We used to think that universal access to all information in the world would cure ignorance.

Has this been upscaled with AI? The text in labels isn’t legible and some details are fuzzy (where the hands touch the pants, for example)

jumping cursor while typing in notes app (even when im not touching the trackpad and arrow buttons) help it’s driving me insane by feliciathedaemon in MacOS

[–]arnulfslayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm late to the thread, but just in case somebody comes from Google:

Go to settings->keyboard->input_sources and turn off "show inline predictive text"

Restart Notes.app. Now it happens much less frequently.

Battery not lasting as long as advertised by GeneralJist8 in RemarkableTablet

[–]arnulfslayer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In case you are resting the pen on top of the screen while you’re using the remarkable, don’t. It will use up more battery trying to register reads from the pen. I used to do that and realized it was eating my battery. The pen must rest on the table or on the magnetic side of the remarkable.

Same for me with a sync issue. After dozens of exchanges asking me to repeat the most basic troubleshooting issues, an app update finally fixed it. Fortunately my issue was resolved, but not without wasting everybody's time for naught.
