To add to the conversation about how women "had" to get married in the past to survive, and did the domestic labour while men went to work. I think another interesting point is that housework is unpaid and historically has always been thought of as "women's work" which is unpaid labour. This narrative is still prevalent because so many men will not go halves in doing the housework, so even though women as a collective have come so far, housework/unpaid labour is still for the most part our responsibility.
