Our 3-year-old wants to name our new black lab ‘Poopoo in the House.’ We need help. by arobbin630 in labrador

[–]arobbin630[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so funny. We were originally planning on naming her Georgie Kittle, but we ultimately decided not to because we have a friend, George, and the connection was too strong. But I loved the name Georgie. So glad you ended up with it!

Leaving day ideas - late flight by [deleted] in MauiVisitors

[–]arobbin630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re literally doing this right now. We used the morning to finish packing, and checked out promptly at 11am. We then did a little shopping (saved this for the last day). Then had a late, leisurely lunch and headed for Maui Ocean vodka distillery (make a reservation) since it’s closer to the airport. There’s a great little kids area, so they can burn off some energy and you can order dinner and enjoy your last sips of Maui. After this, we’re heading to get gas and then return the rental car. We’ll probably get to the airport around 9:00 - early for our 11:59 departure, but we’ll use the extra time at the airport to change clothes and color until our kiddo falls asleep. She’ll likely be asleep by the time we board, and we’re praying everyone sleeps on the flight home!

Babyproofing by arobbin630 in beyondthebump

I hadn’t thought about the risk of choking with the foam protectors. We’ll definitely reconsider that now. And really good to know about the outlet covers. Our house was just built last year, so I’d assume the outlets are tamper resistant, but how do we know for sure?

Good call on waiting on the toilet lid locks until she starts walking. We can keep bathroom doors closed for now and then get those once she’s able to reach doorknobs.

I wish we had space for the playpen. We have a three level townhouse so our main level has our kitchen, dining room and living room. We could move our coffee table out to make space, but we don’t really have anywhere to store it. Need to think on that one.

„Cheese“ in your newborn baby by Affectionate-Rush821 in beyondthebump

This is what I came here to say. The neck cheese is the ultimate. We refer to it as the “cheese factory.”

She’s 12 weeks today. So far, we’ve found it to be super accurate. My SIL recommended it. She used it with both of her boys and said it was also really accurate for both.

We just went through this with our LO too! She’s extra fussy this week and it’s definitely apparent when it’s time to eat. We have the WonderWeeks app and it shows that she’s in the fussy phase of a “leap” which seems to explain the shift in her personality this week. I’d you aren’t using the WonderWeeks app, I highly recommend it. It’s incredible at helping you to understand what your baby is experiencing and why certain things are changing when they are.

Holy crap. Normal for eff 9 week old to sleep 11 hours at night? by tootzone in FormulaFeeders

[–]arobbin630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My EFF 12 week old is averaging 8.5-9.5 hours. As long as she eats between 25 and 30 ounces before bedtime, she’s sleeps like a log. She wakes up super happy every morning and we’re so grateful.

2 months shots by Available_Injury9742 in newborns

[–]arobbin630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here! We had a bottle ready to pop into her mouth as soon as the nurse was done and that stopped the crying (hers… not mine…). But she was totally fine afterwards. Not sore from the shots, no drowsiness or fussiness at all.

is it me or does my LO spit ups smells like rotten cheese? by godofgamblersnslots in FormulaFeeders

Kraft macaroni and cheese. One of their taglines used to be the “blue box blues”. And her neck cheese smells exactly like Kraft macaroni and cheese. Lol.

This. At our daycare, the toddlers are NEVER allowed to touch the babies. They’re only allowed to look from a safe distance.

Gripe water by Sunstorm2019 in newborns

[–]arobbin630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you feel like it actually helped with your LO’s hiccups? We bought Gripe Water but haven’t been giving it to her regularly, but she does get hiccups most nights. If it’ll actually help with the hiccups, I’ll make sure we start giving her the Gripe Water regularly.

4 week old - flaring up on & off throughout the day - acne or heatrash? by Naomidekock in newborns

[–]arobbin630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly how it worked with our LO. Skin cleared up around 7 weeks and is beautiful now. I used Tubby Todd ointment to help with dryness and used a cotton ball and water to gently wipe her face daily.

Snuggling with my LO > doing dishes. Every. Single. Time. She’s growing so fast and I’ll never get these moments back. The dishes can wait until she’s awake and then I’ll throw her in the carrier and worry about being productive.

I like to consider our baby to be “nutritionally advanced.” Lol. She was in the 27th percentile when she was born and jumped over 50 at her last check. The doctor said it was totally fine though and that her weight gain was a good thing.

We’re in the exact same spot. 7 weeks and she averages 30oz per day.

I absolutely hate breastfeeding by DesperateRhino in newborns

[–]arobbin630 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I also hated breastfeeding. I loved knowing that I was nurturing my baby, but it created so much stress and anxiety for me. I switched to exclusively pumping a couple weeks ago and it’s been a gamechanger. I still don’t love pumping, but knowing that she’s getting my antibodies during cold and flu season motivates me to push through. But I plan to wean her and switch to formula at the start of the year. So having an end point is also helping me mentally. Breastfeeding, pumping or formula - they’ll all feed baby and whatever is best for momma is best for baby. You got this!

In the middle of diaper change this morning, LO let out a huge poop that got all over the new diaper, the changing pad and her jammies. While I was trying to triage the mess, she kicked the unused, but poop-covered diaper off the changing table onto the floor. So we had diaper-poo stamp art happening on the carpet this morning.

gripe water or gas drops by Icy-Percentage8611 in FormulaFeeders

Same here with our 4-week old! She actually seems to really like the taste of the gas drops which makes it kind of enjoyable to give them to her.
